Can someone be nice enough to send me a check for $100 or better yet walk my three dogs at 11:00PM when it's -10F with a 40mph wind, outside?

Sorry couldn't resist

The authors here put a lot of time, at their own expense, to provide the skins that are here for everyone to download. If you have a personal request for a skin, you could approach one of the authors who does a style you like and for $$$ he/she may create a personal skin.

, letting the skin be created by an artist (for money) isn't such a good idea. Thats only attractive for company's.

I am sure someone will grab onto the idea and come up with something. Though everyone is probably working on a number of themes and skins at any given moment, so I would keep checking back in the libraries.

skinners are always busy and unless its a really cool idea they will just work on their own...

ok guys remember a request is a request ...he asked nicely if a skinner would be kind enough to make something or him...remember not all skinners are here for the $$...if u dun have any thing nice to say ..Shhhhhh..
i remember a time when it wasent that far fetched to request skin wed like to see..the skinners if they liked the idea made it "with much grattitude from the recipiant" ...many skinners sold custom skins just to pay the bills. so they could do what they loved .. skinning ..also remember this, the Members here wether they skin or not help pay for the site.

hummdizzy if i could skin worth a crap id build one for u no charge.
i luv the whole skinning culture as well as the beautiful art works that i find. im here for the fun not the $

HG....
Didn't mean that skinners were in it for the money, though I did read in another post that the going rate was anywhere from $500 to $5000 for a project, otherwise we wouldn't have this wonderful site You do see requests on the boards for this or that skin or theme, especially from new members, and I don't always get the sense that everyone understands the time and effort authors put into their work and I am also one of the folks who supports the idea of some kind of enhanced subscription that includes a selection of special themes and skins where a portion of the monies goes to the authors This is not because I am a skinner, but because I support this site and the authors on it and I am here for the fun as well

i agree with a section set aside for contributeing to the skinners here. it would give those who can afford to, the means to thank (in $) ths skinners for their time and talents. a single pot where the contributions could be divided % wise according to downloads per month."the better the skin, the more the dl's, the more $ they get "
not only would that allow us to contribute to the skinners .. but motivate better skinning.
...i know my mods are time consumeing, so id imagine the time needed to build from scratch.

i just didnt want this thread to turn in to another flame war chaseing off another WC user ...

The incentive to skin, particularly for Windowblinds which is a complex proggy/skin needs to come from either monetary reward or personal enthusiasm.

It's as simple as that.

When a decent skin can take from days to weeks to complete it's not just something anyone will do on a whim and a suggestion.  They must actually 'want' to do it to devote that amount of time and effort.

In the good old days skinning was easier as the proggies were more primitive and requests were more frequently accommodated willingly.  Everyone did 'requests' of one form or another, but you won't see so many now.

Best hope is that a request might spark someone's interest in doing it and it'll be done.

But remember, apart from the commercial skinning/ers people do this for pure volluntary enjoyment, so requests can never be assumptive or demanding...
