!!!!IconPackager stuck!!!!

before christmas, i downloaded iconpackager and installed the christmas icons. by now, of course, icon packager has expired and when i tell it to restore the icons to system defaults, it wont do it, all it says is that "icon packager has expired" and gives me a link to stardock to purchase it. what is there that i can do?

i will do anything to fix it.

try it. I don't know if it will work, but it makes sense. If iconpackager isn't there to skin the icons the defaults should be used.

ok... iu just hope that it wont crash. maybe i should take the safe way and just try changing the icons manually...... if that doesnt work, i will uninstall

The only time IP does anything is when you tell it to. It doesn't run at startup to "skin" the icons. So uninstalling IP isn't going to change the icons. I can only think of two options to get your icons back to default............ purchase IP, or do it manually (one at a time) .........

OK, I talked to support about this, and what you do, is set back your clock, to before it timed out. Have IP restore defalt Icons, then set you clock back to the proper date. That will work for sure.

alright I figured it out on my own
What icon packager does is change the default icons of every single thing that it can change in the registry or it adds a default icon. So once iconpackager won't work you can't use it to restore all of default icons that it changes. I used a registry scanner to tell me the differences between when I had an iconset loaded and I had the default iconset loaded and there were a lot and it was just the icons. I think that stardock should include a program to restore the defaults because they already have the code to do it. I might be wrong at how it works but that is my impression of how it works.
