I have some very good news!
Thursday, January 15, 2004 by kona0197 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Until Today.
We got a 60 day notice to vacate the premises today so my better half started looking for a place to live.
We went to look at apartments but we got stumped with the credit checks and deposits. So we decided to call our Landlord to inquire about if she had other Apartments for rent.
She did.
So now we are going to move to a new studio Apartment downtown, and the best part is the deposit we would have got back from our current residence is being applied as a deposit to the new place so we barely have any money out of pocket for the new place.
The bad news is the only pets we have to get rid of is the dogs but hopefully a family member will take them in.

I am deeply gradified for those here who have helped me and prayed for us. I am VERY proud to be part of this community.
After all, Kona is not going offline! (although I know there is more to life than the Internet.)

But at this point we are having alot of second thoughts.
if money wasn't the issue we would just choose a nice place to live and be done with it. After all, we had $2000 dollars in our pockets when we moved here. We will barely have $900 when we move to a new place.
Several problems have arisen. We REALLY do not want to get rid of our dog Chance. We have had Chance since she was 7 weeks old and have grown to love her and we both think that life would be far different without her. To different to even think about getting rid of her.
But really what choice do we have?
A few other things bothered me last night as I tried to lay down to sleep. The place we wanted has stairs that ae long and narrow. my girlfriend is a big girl, over 300 lbs (not her fault, genetic) and she has back problems since she was young. Strirs hurt her. And i am not sure the shower is big enough for her.
And the studio is right across from a scholl. I don't hate kids I just do not get along with them very well.
And all of our stuff will not fit in the small apartment so off to storage we go.
Damn I hate this crap. Why can't life be simple? >

Two things to try.....
1. Check with Real Estate companies....some handle rental units, apts. duplexes, houses, etc. for private citizens with less rigid rules vs. rental complexes that are more rigid with rules.
2. Check with the State Health and Human Services. You may not qualify for low income/assisted housing, but they can steer you in the direction of landlords that will rent to people having some financial difficulties.
Good Luck

Maybe you could put an ad in the local paper (if you have one) saying "Free to good home" for the dogs, then, if someone takes them, you could arrange to visit them occasionally if they were nearby.
....just a thought.
