If your not into gaming then the PRO versions of any of the cards is over kill, but a fast GPU with 128 - 256 megs of DDR ram on it will make a big difference in digital art and 3d rendering...
The odd thing is, when you get into the really high end graphics design cards ATI doesn't come close to Matrox or nVidia $1000.00+ cards....

The testing and results are scaled by Performance and Price...
ATI is basically over priced when you consider yo are speaking of a difference of single digit discrepences...

hell really doesn't matter...
I installed a 5700 Ultra last night and put a Viewsonic A90f UltraBrite true flat CRT on it and it is phenomanul...
Total price was $480.00 out the door, the freaking ATI Pro was $499.00...
you do the math...

| no it doesn't... sorry |
You are telling me that your 256 meg card is better than a 512 meg card? no way.
Anyways, I hate nvidia and always will. To many driver problems and ATI customer support rocks.

Really? I can show you otherwise. Fact is, the 5950 came out after the 9800XT and the 9800XT still outperforms it. 9800XT is king when it comes to DX9, and in some areas the 9600 Pro outperformed the 5900 Ultra. How the hell can you say ATI doesn't hold anything to Nvidia? Overall performance is all ATI.
Deesh--what would be considered a budget card (price)?
