Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap.

well this isn't related to anything here. Hell, its not even all that interesting. But it's gonna make ME feel better and i've got nobody else to vent to right now.

so i'm sitting here quietly, rockin' out to Radiohead and doing a pretty intense graphic for our website. its got lots of layers, its got lots of masking, its got carefully chosen colors and it took me all morning to get together. i take a breather, stretch myself out - and kick the button on the power strip under my desk. OOoo.. 'puters off.

"save early" they said. "save often" they said. sigh.

There's a meter in my home, and some credit displayed in a digital readout which ticks down as I use up electricity. When it gets low, and preferably before all my lights go out, I take a little plastic key to the local shop, give the guy some cash, he sticks the key in a machine which is electronically charged with "electricity". I take the key home, stick it in a slot in the meter and the credit is increased...pay-as-you-go electricity.

Reminds me of the ancient Brit sit-coms and B/W Brit movies where they were always having to find coin for the 'gas meter' on the wall.

RU in the UK?

duh okay. I be understanding now. How do the rates compare from that method and the normal monthly bill for however much you used. I suppose with it you would learn to be more frugal because the effects would be noticed quicker, but I have to ask if it actually worth it. And Chris Russia is not in Great Britain, but tiggz is..look at his profile.

I often wonder how such a tiny object can hold so much electricity, I think they use some sort of compression technology

the rates are the same either way, it's just a budgeting choice for the consumer

Right... took a minute, old habits die hard

Nah, haven't you heard? They've miniaturised the electron over 10E8 times. I keep saying they'll hit Moore's law soon though

hehe i'm sure its figuritive. the key has a magnetic code that unlocks the meter.

put a credit card swiper on there with a keypad and it'll be like gasing up your car.

ah, the future.. when EVERYTHING is wired through the internet....

I stuck a piece of cheese in my outlet once to feed the little mice in there and my electricity was free for a week. didn't you know that the guy who comes around and says that he is checking meters isn't...he feeds the mice.

maybe he is replacing the mice with fresh strong ones
