Regulars

Thursday, January 1, 2004 by kongit | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

There are many regular posters here at the messageboard. At some other sites acknowledgement is given to those based on their number of posts. I don't completely think that an idea like that would carry over correctly here, but I'd like to see something of that nature implemented. Perhaps a new title for those like kona, xaltec or I who frequent the forums, but have not attained the apprentice status. We might not be as helpful as say Yrag or are rooted here like WOM, but we try.

I wouldn't mind except all of the normal titles for a citizen just don't look good with my nick and I'd like to have something in front of my name to make me feel special. I have strange needs.

ps I know I haven't been here as long as a lot of you guys, but I like it here and intend to stay.

Some suggestions are:
"Idiot","Troll","Wincustomite","Boarder","Regular","Killer","Dawg", "Gorilla","Clown","Ugly",...you get the idea, just something to spice up my life.

Was just going to tell you how to get rid of that citizen, but you beat me to it.

How about custom titles for those who post a lot? Avatars even? Sigs? A real lookin' message board? (Although these currently aren't so bad)

I think however that the paid subscribers should not be listed as apprentice
Subscribing doesn't get you an instant Apprentice title.

Maybe subscribers should get wulfn1's "Comrade" title...or just be happy with the little WC Browser logo.

I think however that the paid subscribers should not be listed as apprentice which suggests skills some subscribers will never have (like me).

Purchasing a subscription does not earn you the title of Apprentice

Totally off topic I know, but I saw this on essencay's link.

Eventually, we will also have the top community skin authors which will be determined through Stardock's upcoming "Convergence" application that will allow users to automatically (and optionally) to send what skins and themes and icons they're using to a central database (user information is kept anonymously).

Any info on when that's coming out? I'll make a new topic on this if there's a few replies. Most likely there's already a topic about it.

Thanks everyone who filled me in on that. My lack of WC knowledge is positively baffling. you'd think after being here for two and a half years I'd have learned something useful by now. unfortunately for me, usually when I come in here, I am either in a hurry, or totally stressed out from dealing with kids , schools, and family members who don't know how to use a computer, so I tend to veg out here.. contributing to knowledge bases, and absorbing from same is usually out of the question. oh ya, and I tend to go on and on and on and on and on.............

Just curious...What exactly must one do to become an Apprentice? I skin...sort of. Still a Citizen, though.

Contribute by skinning, on the MSGBD or both.

To clarify... contributing on the Messageboard in order to be promoted, does not mean merely making comments, but helping people with problems, and things of that nature.

As I browse the boards, I have noticed Trav helping in alot of them.

Keep up the good work Trav. You'll get there eventually.

Yes, thanks Koasati, but I guess I was thinking more along the lines of skinning. What is necessary to be promoted?
