Well this sucks.

Monday, December 29, 2003 by nowayinheck | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I am fairly new to winCustomize. And thought they were a nice family based site to download quality wallpaper and the what not.. Until I get this today! "Error: Server too busy

Due to high traffic the site is currently dedicating its resources to
customers who have either purchased a WinCustomize Subscription
or any Stardock product.

Tired of getting a "server too busy" error.
Then support WinCustomize by subscribing to WinCustomize today!

WinCustomize Subscription Info - Buy Now! "

Im sorry but I find that to be an outrage.
Seems these days, you cant do anything without someone wanting you to pay for it....

This is they way this site works, popimp. It is supported by contributions, time or/and monetarily, from its members.

My contributions are not the best but after 1200 downloads, the icons I conveeted for you are one of the ways I contributed to the site.

It is a give and take thing. Two way street.

Of course, po-pimp, you could go buy yourself the TGSoft 'Theme Hack' (or whatever!) and spend nothing further on anything .... but you sure will find the downtime and the slow access to a site such as ThemeXP a real pain in the butt.
Then again, you can sit there for hours congratulating yourself on your great wisdom in finding 'something for nothing'!
Now go away. >

I'm sorry..., do you pick up your telephone and expect a dialtone without paying for the service of the local telephone company?

I didn't reallize! and here I've been paying for the service the whole time!

now , that sounds about as silly as you're thinking that downloading from a website without contributing in some way is acceptable.

you know your right... It was stupid of me to think so.. But I've already stated that I was sorry.. I've offended all of you, and that was without trying to do so... I guess I have more to learn about life on the web then I thought...

It seems from your previous messages that you've paid for a Stardock application (Windowblinds?) - is this right? You are entitled to full access if so and if you're not getting it I can understand your frustration.

If this is right, then definitely contact them and it'll be fixed - simple as that.

Hello Chris...
Thank you for your input.. Let me explain myself a little better.. I did pay for a copy of windowblinds 4.0 (I think... A family member purchased it for me. Then one day, I see that they are requiring funds... I did do the cross over thing. I don't remember what the heck they called it.. But I gave them the info they wanted. Then I was I was a level 2? Not sure.. At any rate, I'm not able to download anymore of the artist's works...
Its a sad thing.. But I can hang.. what more can I do? lol..

Thanks.. Gimp

You posted your apology on another thread and i didn't get to view it til after I posted here. I wouldn't have written if I'd have seen that. I look forward to seeing you posting more in the future , as a subscriber.

Hi> I think if you try the crossreference again, using the email address that was used to purchase the WB, it may work. In any case, do contact them with your problem because you definitly should have access since the WB was for you. Who knows, ironing out your problem might help others with the same one.

Hello Goodmorphing...

If I was to try again, it would be the third time... I just know not to purchase anything online anymore.. Lesson learned...

But thanks for trying to be supportive... IT's good to see that not everyone is so unforgiving...

Thanks Gimp...

You'll probably have to let Stardock know their details so they can track the purchase down.

Then one day, I see that they are requiring funds...

Hmmm.. not sure what this is relevant to but, OK

I did do the cross over thing. I don't remember what the heck they called it.. But I gave them the info they wanted.

The 'cross reference' is quite particular. You need to use the email address that was given when the software was purchased. Again, I suggest contacting the sales people a Stardck and explaining the whole thing. I'm sure they'll help you out.

If you're genuine there's no reason for you to just give up & say 'oh well'... you're entitled to full access.

C'mon, I purchase things online al the time (got the spam to prove it )

Stardock, however, I can tell you have been above board since my/their OS/2 days (1997?) so definitely contact them and sort it out.

Well, good luck. I still think it might be worth your effort, considering that the site itself has been going through all those server losses. Everything has been wonky, and all of the admins have been working doubletime just to try and keep the site online and functioning. Even the artists had to redo their stuff, sometimes more than once.

Another thing you might try to do is to dump your cookies, and see if the new one picks up the change.
