Well this sucks.

I am fairly new to winCustomize. And thought they were a nice family based site to download quality wallpaper and the what not.. Until I get this today! "Error: Server too busy

Due to high traffic the site is currently dedicating its resources to
customers who have either purchased a WinCustomize Subscription
or any Stardock product.

Tired of getting a "server too busy" error.
Then support WinCustomize by subscribing to WinCustomize today!

WinCustomize Subscription Info - Buy Now! "

Im sorry but I find that to be an outrage.
Seems these days, you cant do anything without someone wanting you to pay for it....

...but then again, if we all got paid 2 cents for each download of something - I have a feeling people like adni18 and BoXXi would be happiest

I admit, I'm a 27 year old loser wthout a credit card - so I got my "mommy" to pay for my subscription.. - you must know SOMEONE who can purchase one for you then reimburse later...no? -- Surely we all know someone with a credit card willing to front 20bux.

It's totally worth it for 730+ days of unlimited downloads of everything on this site, plus much much much more.

The idea, if I'm not mistaken, was brought up - for the artists to be paid for their works on a download number basis. [or so I think, don't quote me..] Not sure if that would ever materialize tho since most [all?] who submit here do so because they have a genuine love of skinning and graphics.

Well Spyderbite let me put it to you this way... Maybe you can understand without being such an ignoramus...

I'm 38 yrs old.. Living on an income that Dog's couldn't hardley live on... I'm disabled.. Well to put it to you this way. You wouldn't want my life. Someone like you would hang themselves in the toilet. I didn't mean for all of this uglyness to come about. I was just merely stateing my feelings... So if I owe the artist's an opologie fine. But I didn't ask for someone like you to get nasty with me either.

Getting nasty? I do believe you misinterpreted my replies to this thread - honest. I was in no way, on any level, attempting to be abrasive or anything negative. Which part of my replies disgusted you? - Was it the "27 year old loser without a credit card" thing? -- I intended no ill feelings with that - it was actually an attack on myself for being a schmuck in my youth and ruining my own credit

- My apologies if my posts seemed like an attack; they weren't

From the SD FAQ:

Q: I don’t have a credit card. How can I purchase Stardock software?

A: We also accept checks or money orders in US funds (no Eurocheques, please, as they are not certified funds). Please print and use the order form at https://www.stardock.com/order.txt (also found in the directories of Stardock’s shareware products) and mail with payment to:

Stardock Systems, Inc.
17292 Farmington Rd.
Livonia, MI 48152
USA

Visit http://cnnfn.cnn.com/markets/currencies/ for current information on exchange rates.

A Wincustomize Subscription is $19.95 for two years and has some perks in addition to premium access when traffic is high. You can read about it if you click on WC Goodies on the top right hand side of the site's main page.

Additionally, traffic load issues are also currently a concern since two servers went down and only one has been replaced. The other is on order. The funds from the subscriptions pay for the servers and a portion of the bandwidth. So far the site is not self-sufficient and relies on funding from Stardock to make up the difference. Hence the recent subscription drive to replace the two servers.
