DL Longhorn??

Is it possible for the "enduser" to download a beta copy of Longhorn now? Want to experience the bugs and crashing myself.

Longhorn can be found, if ya know where to look. However it is still in alpha phase and not beta. And from what I hear it does not run well even on the best WinXP machines, so I wouldn't recommend dl'ng and installing it unless you have some exrea cash for another pc.

Digital_k is correct. I've tried several versions (via our volume licensing contract) and it's not ready for beta yet IMO. My experience so far is that while it is not as fast (optimized) as XP on the same hardware, it's not as bad as digital_k states. But then again, XP isn't as fast as 2000 on the same hardware either.

I'm stumped here.
I can understand that Longhorn will have alot of nifty things, and be the most advanced upgrade to Windows since the advent of 95.
However.. I have read articles that speculate Longhorn will not be released for another 4 years.
Many things can happen in that amount of time.
I say, unless you are a software developer like SD.. relax and don't give Longhorn any "brain time" for another couple of years at least.

All I was saying that if this person has to ask where to find Longhorn , then maybe they shouldn't use it? lol I did overstate it a bit, but it should not be used as a primary OS. Its just too buggy at this point, and is very resource heavy because of all the changes in it.XP and 2000 have similar architecture, whereas Longhorn shares little that is similar with either. I would suggest using a multi-partition, and just doodling with it.

from what i have read, you have to use a diffrent partition. Longhorn uses a diferent file system. Not fat or ntfs.
