Welcome to WinCustomize 2005!

Bear with us as wel get settled in..

Tuesday, December 7, 2004 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

The new WinCustomize is here!

Bear with us as there will no doubt be issues that we have to work through over the next couple of weeks. But we hope you like what you see so far.

The new site is designed to be more steamlined for both new users and power users. It also has a lot more content than the previous site and provides a bunch of new ways for users to participate (with more ways to come).

Let us know what you think.  If you're running into performance issues, let us know. That's the part that's the trickiest to resolve since WC has so much traffic (millions of different users per month) that even one bug can cascade mightily.

Great! I like it! Tremendous! What I have problem with is so called Cross referencing! I shall enter the address I have purchased the products from Stardock and I've used for the Wincustomize account! But I used the same for both!If I do that and enter my E-Mail address I get displayed:You must enter a different address which was used to make your purchase. Strange!I used for both the same E-mail address!

Hmm... 1) Blue/white corporate colour scheme; 2) brushed metal tabs; and 3) inconsistent styling/font usage. Whereas the old site had its own distinct feel, it looks like your average dotcom site now.

Fortunately it's much faster and seemingly has more features (which I still need to check out).

By the way, why are personal icons limited to .jpg? I'd very much like to use a .gif (because of transparency).

I really like the new Wincustomze.Much cleaner interface. One problem though is that the site doesn't support Opera. The Browse Site section at the left of the screen doesn't show properly (i can only see the last half of every line) and in my comments i can't use any tags. Please fix that.

Nice to see a much more modern 'skin' applied to this site - it did look a bit dowdy before.
Well done guys and thanks!!

Very nice job on the new Wincustomize site. Like it much more than the previous. However, how can I list more than 5 previews per page?

So far I like what I've Come across. However I hit the button "restore windows default" in my Logon Screen and I can't figure out how to restoe it back to logons instead of the "default" display. I have all of my logons I have in window showing their name, but no image will appear. I'm at my wit's end and know it must be something so trival I'll be horrified when someone tells me what to do!!!

Happy 0th Birthday Frogboy and Wincutomize 2005. Site seems to be much more intuitive. I like the tabbed pages. Two Thumbs Up My only complaint is that I had to change my nick

For the most part, great performance increase. It does hang once in a while.

Does anyone have a fix for the squishing of screenshots?

I have uploaded 1280x1024 and 1280x960, both of which are shown as square.

I never had a problem at old site, so I suspect issue is here at new site.

I seem to have some problems with uploading skins... i'll see if i can find a way to fix it... (i hope )

I am liking it only marginally more than the old site.

What I really don't like (and can't figure out how to remedy), is that I am now presented with the entire library contents on the left hand side, instead of just the ones I care about.

Can anyone help me out here?

?

Dear WC webmaster,

This site is pretty cool... you just need to remove the letter-spacing CSS attributes from the WC CSS so that the text is more readable. Try adding line-height attributes to make the text easier to scan. Letter-spacing produces poor results as you can see by the inconsistent-ness of the words on the site.

Typography is probably the biggest part of the WC site. It needs to have decent readable text that is easy to scan. The old WC had this same problem by using a MS sans font. Now the new site has some amateurish, invalid CSS.

If you need help making valid CSS... just let me know.

It seems that if I log in with Kazz0r and my pass, I reload at the same page but not logged ion. But if I do that with fake account names/passwords I get sent to the sign-up page.

Hey Kazz0r, i hacked the gibson and retrieved your Username and pw, did the login thing and was able to login.

i looked you up with the nickname of "Kazz0r" and used the information that was returned and was able to login/logout just fine. if you want, email me with the email address you login with just to verify i am using the correct information. [email protected]

BTW, i am one of the developers of WC2k5

I get an error when using mozilla

Hey Derek, i also have tried mozilla and it works fine for me. A side question, at what time(eastern standard) did you try using mozilla? We were in a frenzy for a bit doing updates and what not so you could have just been cought inbetween an upload/change of sorts
