Bad hardware! BAD HARDWARE!

...Little bit frustrated...

Every hour or two this site reboots. WHy? There's some sort of hardware problem on the machien that ultimately causes XP server 2003 to blue screen. We have a new server going up but it's really frustrating seeing the site just die after hour or so.

You wouldn't believe how much bandwidth this stie takes up these days.

It's amazing. At peak hours, I believe the amount is something like 60MB/sec or in that range.

Remember me complaining about when it was 15 megabits per second?

Brad, I remember when it wasn't an issue at all! You guys have done a really good job with you entire effort, be it software or websites. It is frustrating sometimes hunting down that little blue screen guy though!

um, you didnt decide to use the bits from my old machine in the server did you?

as for the bandwidth, these numbers seem just a little bit staggering!

I've noticed the odd dropout over the past day or two.....can we blame the french?

I know KG likes to point accusingly at the Canadians...but that's a local US thing.

Could'a been the Ruskies...but they've been quiet of late....something to do with a wall coming down and such..Perhaps the Kiwis....they have a thing about sheep...but they sacked their coach for blowing the Rugby chances.

.....the Germans?....don't mention the war.....

My suspicions tell me that server is doing more than just serving.

what the Watusie?

Brad, with the blue screen, did they figure it out yet? What I am wondering is if the motherboard is on the list of known issues with the version og the server 2003?

Anything found in the Log's?

Sometimes a chattering NIC can cause odd things. Someone mentioned the site was being pinged at a high rate the other day. Chattering NIC could look like that, and it could very well cause a number of different BSD's and leave people scratching their heads unless they happened to be monitoring network traffic in AdminTools or have a sniffer / lanaylzer running.

Wasn't there a worm that rebooted machines every hour or so? could it be a malfuntioning flavor of such a worm?

It would help if you could post the STOP message from the blue screen. You would need to turn off the auto reboot though in system properties if the server is unattended. It might be as simple as a driver issue.

It's a faulty motherboard. We just haven't had time to move stuff to a different server to get a tech in there.
