Novice needing assistance re building DX2 Objects

G'day All, I have DX2 running on my pc and downloaded objects from this site.(Fantastic) In particular the fish and I have played around to make them bigger/smaller and change there colours.
The question I am asking is can someone steer me in the direction of how to make new images or modify other images to suit please.(web addresses maybe re tutorials)
