How much is 2 yr old Dell Inspiron 8200 worth?

Tuesday, November 18, 2003 by ScoobyWRX STi 04 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop That is almost 1 year 8 months old. My friend at school is interested in buying it. I customized a laptop on Dell with the same specs as mine and it totalled to around 3,177 - 3, 300. I just need some advice on what a good price is so that I make out well without ripping him off completely.

It runs this:
1.6GHz
640MB,DDR,333MHz 2 Dimms
64 MB NvIdia GeForce 440 Go
XP Home
Microsoft® Office 2003 Professional with Money and EducateU
15.4" WUXGA Display
24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
30GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
72 WHr Spare Primary Battery
Microsoft® Office Professional 2003 with Money® Includes Microsoft PowerPoint
Inspiron S-Video Cable

Thanks

Scooby,

This is certainly not the place to post about your "extensive list of hacked programs" loaded on your laptop. I would suggest editing your post (at a minimum).

Ditto bmtelsky.
Its worth only as much as someone will pay for it.

Remember I have to give him an offer that will get me the most, while staying reasonable so he will actually buy it

i'd probably pay about 750 for the computer without the software.
i got a new inspiron 5100 with 2.4 ghz p4, 512megs mem, 32mb ati radeon mobile, xp pro, 15.4" display, 40 gig harddrive, and the 24 cd-rw/dvd combo drive with a printer/scanner all in one for about 1200-1300. Of course 8200 are worth more than a 5100, and i had a college discount.

well i wouldn't pay for the stuff you didn't so i probably round it off at an even 1000.

used computers are worth far less to the seller because the computer market allows a person to buy a new computer with around the same specs as the used for usually a marginal amount. I'd look on dell for a 8200 with the same specs if possible then probably offer 3/4 to 7/8 of the price, otherwise he could buy a new computer, which is always the better option(besides building it).

LMAO! Too true!

Scooby: Keep your dell and stick your money into a good mountain bike. After you get that alienware (if you ever do) you are goping to want the next big thing so it is back to square one. On the other hand you will love a mountain bike.

BTW for 1k you can get dual suspension, disc brakes, and 27 speeds. And mountain bikes hold the value better than PC's.

And for the record, that alienware is ugly.

Keep your dell. Live and learn.

Haha, I dont bike but whatever floats your boat...

And the Alienware looks a lot ****** better than my Dell, anyday

Also my friend is in the top 50 in the world on counter-strike (he practically plays for a job) and is on one of the top CS Traveling teams. Alienware approached him about setting up some relations for LANS, and tourneys, so we are all gunna get hooked up down the line if we do well. They are offering some shirts, hats, sweaters, posters etc for small LANS, and as they get bigger we will get pc parts, and then down the line pcs... So well see how things go

That's your problem. Get a bike and then maybe you'll have a life.

As for your alienware, they do not sell very well:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/new-for-you/top-sellers/-/pc/565108/002-9407430-7968043
And the reviews fall short of a dell 8500.

No Sh*za Sherlock! Alienware is a private company and doesnt sell on Amazon!

"Your village called", "Their idiot is missing" lol

I mean that playfully Kona, please dont take offense.

I'll look up what the sales are tomorrow, but I got school in a few hours...

Seriously I don't think its worth much (or anything...).
For 1200 you can get a much better pentium 4 with all included, so I dont understand why someone would pay you 1000 or even 750 for your pc.
Considder a job in the weekend or something like that

If I were you, I would refrain from calling the admins,"bud."

Actually Styl, Id be willing to pay 750 for that laptop...Id say its only problem (as far as specs go) is the 1.6ghz processor...
