Why settle for just looking like XP?

How to Run Windows XP on Your Computer

Thursday, November 17, 2022 by DrJBHL | Discussion: Personal Computing

You can make your W11 or W10 look like XP with Windowblinds and Start10 or Start11...or, you can actually run good old Windows XP on your W11 or W10 computer using a virtual machine.

Take a peek at MakeUseOf's article on how to here: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/download-windows-xp-for-free-and-legally-straight-from-microsoft-si/?utm_source=MUO-NL-RP&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=MUO-NL-CP

And by the way, it's perfectly legal.

This post is dedicated to my old friend Steve (WebGizmos) who loves Windows XP.

Being a tech-head I know that running OSs in virtual machines can be fun sometimes, but is there some practical benefit to running XP at this point?

None apart from the experience...nostalgia and fun. But, don't forget that XP is running on millions of old computers all around the world as we speak.

From the article,

"Windows XP is old, and Microsoft no longer provides official support for the venerable operating system. But despite the lack of support, Windows XP is still running on millions of computers worldwide. So why are people still using Windows XP? Mostly due to work, research, or entertainment."

Every now and then, I like to crank up XP in a VM and play with Stardock's old apps.

IconX is one. Right Click.  Control Center.  Logon Studio.  And others.
