Simple 3D Desktop wallpaper, w/ illusion of depth?

Wednesday, November 5, 2003 by JSmith2 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Looking for something very simple. Just a ray-traced, empty, wood desktop. Similar to https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=8&SkinID=5596, but obviously without the Earth.

Gives the impression of depth.

Does anyone know of a wallpaper that fits this description? Did I describe it clearly enough?

You could try this wall, only you might want to darken it up a little. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=8&SkinID=13350

Wrecklesserk: follow CerebroJD's link. There is a trailing coma in JSmith's link, so it's not working.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

But I'm looking for something with more, well, "perspective".

So that, if you had no desktop icons at all, it would appear that you could reach right into the monitor and set something down.

Know what I mean?

I could build you a desk if that is what your looking for. Just let me know what your looking for.

I hope you realize that if it is empty and you tell it to raytrace you will have a blank wall. you can't tell it is raytracing unless something is there, so it's either blank plain wood, or your going to have to have something on it.

btw good to see your still with us dd3, haven't seen you around in a long while. Have you gotten any farther with the villa wall, I'd very much like to see it.

Dreamdesign3d, that would be *great*.

It's hard to describe, but I'm gonna try:

1) Plain woodgrain, going off into the distance to give illusion of depth; will it work by itself or will it need other objects to create perspective?

2) Possibly make it an actual, huge, ornate oak desk?

3) Maybe use a starfield on the sides, making it appear that the desk is suspended in space? Maybe through in a few nebulae, etc.

Gee, I don't ask much, do I?

I appreciate the offer. If I can do anything to clarify, please ask. Thanks again.

This one isn't wood obviously, but is kind of getting the idea...
