objectdock is opening applications on its own

Tuesday, May 10, 2022 by x2fdxfullmetal | Discussion: ObjectDock

So this has been happening ever since I got my new ssd and had to reinstall a bunch of things like my amd software and some other applications everything works fine same goes for object dock but now every so often object dock will open my calculator, live, mail, settings and my calendar on its own. its not like its hurting anything really but when im streaming it is extra things drawing on my cpu

ObjectDock is unlikely to be starting those apps.

As you may know ObjectDock is not compatible with Windows 10 or 11 and one reason for that is it incorrectly shows hidden universal apps as running.  Some universal apps startup in the background to handle tasks like syncing mails, calendars etc and because of this show up in ObjectDock.

hmmm it didnt used to do this before i swapped the ssd over and when i close out of objectdock those programs are not opening on their own. i understand some things need to run in the background in order to update and what not but that doesnt really account for it opening the calculator. and when i check in task manager none of these programs are set to launch on startup or just while the computer is running

Are they appearing on screen as Windows or purely in object dock's taskbar?

That I cannot explain but unfortunately ObjectDock is not supported on Windows 10.

This seems really weird, I have used ObjectDock 2.20.0.862 on Windows 10 since Windows 10 was released, single dock, no issues ever. I even have that same ObjectDock version on Windows 11 and again, no issues.

so i was talking with some guys over at display fusion and i found the only time i can get it to pull these 4 windows up on its own is when i wake up the pc from sleep or if i shut it down or restart it. ive made sure none of these programs are set to launch on startup so im not sure what to check for this

I wish you guys would update it. Microsoft made a mistake removing tiles from the start menu. I have a lot of games and graphic apps and those tiles made it so easy to sort and display so I could find everything without having to go through the start menu list.

I've tried to use fences, since upgrading to 11. Too many portals really slows stuff down. Too many fences slow it down, but not as bad. I was surprised that Start11 didn't have it's own version of the windows tiles built in. A lot of people are trying to find the best alternative and honestly, aside from Object Dock, there really isn't anything that is as pleasing to the eye and easy to load with your shortcuts, not to mention the ability to customize them.

Maybe a scaled down version of Object Dock that compliments Curtains or +Start11? A standard tabbed dock and a regular dock that you can adjust the colors to match your overall desktop theme. Sorry. Medication talking. Or just update ObjectDock? Or make a version of the tiles the way that only Stardock can?

Please? Or think about it? I'd buy it in a hearbeat.

Start11 offers a Windows 10 style menu with tiles.
