I believe it is like sysmetrix. It is a system monitoring tool. But I could be wrong.

Yep. It's a system monitoring and metering app. Small, svelte, a peer to Sysmetrix. I prefer Samurize to Sysmetrix, but the differences are really minimal.

I always thought Samurize was Script-based...Sysmetrix has predetermined attributes to skin, with Samurize you can script whatever your scripting limitations are...they both do the same thing in different ways.

I have used samurize to display server logs, site news, weather, etc. on my desktop. There is a really old screenshot on my profile at devart that shows it. By that time I had switched to Coolmon, but it is a very, very similar app http://bakerstreet.deviantart.com/

I have never used Sysmetrix, but the key to my uses for Samurize/Coolmon was being able to parse text files and display whatever you want. I ran a bit of a rigged PHP system behind it that let me grab stuff from a local db and from online sources to display. Was pondering updating it and playing with Desktop X a bit.

For the curious, you can get Coolmon here: http://coolmon.arsware.org/

Well - okay. I stand corrected. The means to the end differ - but the end-results are often quite similar.

Samurize is really sort of a mixture of both. It has a ton of built-in monitoring functions & options - and at the same time, it features robust external scripting support (VBscript, console proggies, text files, etc.)

Coolmon's nice too - I played with it awhile back and it was nice. I always find myself going back to Samurize though. It's simple (relatively,) and it works for what little I need.
