I need some advice on website design

Saturday, October 18, 2003 by kona0197 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

First of all, a friend of mine wants to know how much it would cost him to get a very nice website up and running. So if any here now, please advise me.

He needs a site that will supoort checkout with Visa/Mastercard and he wants the site for retail purposes.

How much does it cost to set all that up? about $3000 I would say?

Buying a domain name is about $50 a year- 2 year.

We can get you one for 15 dollars a year.

Also, I want you to look at this site http://www.safetystrategyinc.com and see if thats the kind of "selling" you are talking about. DONT send a purchase form unless you mean it though

Login form

Templates with this feature include an integrated user login form, which is generally composed of a username input box and a password input box. This is useful if you plan to have a restricted member/user area. Note that the template only includes the form to input the username and password. The actual logging in process requires the use of an external script which is not included with the template.

Where could I find a script such as this?

Also looking for the search form script, the site it will be used in was made entirely In Dreamweaver MX 2004 if that helps.

Re #25: Depends on a lot of things... What language? ASP or PHP?  Is your site hosted on Linux or Windows?  Do you have multiple account to authenticate or just one username/password? Do you have a database or users or do you want to set the username and password to check for in the script itself?

Re #26: I assume the text of your site is in the HTML not in a database, therefore searching is more difficult. I would suggest to simply implement a Google search box for your site. All you need is copy-paste this script on your web page:  http://www.google.com/searchcode.html#both

I don't really know if it is ASP or PHP as I did not design design the site personally, my partner did, Windows, Would probably be just one username/password, In the script itself I'd say.

Then it has to be either PHP or ASP. You don't want to do it in javascript and have the username and password written for anybody to just read it in the source.

Your whole site doesn't need to be PHP or ASP, just that one login page. If it's hosted on a Windows machine, then it probably supports ASP, while if it's hosted on Linux it probably supports PHP.  In either case, it's a very simple script.

Just tell me if the hosting server supports ASP or PHP and I'll send you the script by email.
