I am going to be taking a skinning break

Tuesday, October 14, 2003 by Keila | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I am really hoping it will not be for too long but for now I am working on getting my life back in order.
I was using the computer and skinning as an escape. I suffer from panic and anxiety disorder and have always refused to take medication for it for many years now. I finally realized that I no longer had a choice and started on some about a month and a half ago . I has changed my whole life, and yes for the better.
Being on the computer all the time now just will not cut it for me. I have so many things I want to do that I was just not able to do before. I will still be checking in at the site every day to see the newest skins read the message board and a bit of chat time in the morning. I just would hate to give it all up and that is now where near as time consuming as skinning.
So, for now I just cannot sit still for too long. I have way too much catching up on life to do.

I am sorry to be missing you for some time, but I am glad that it is because you are onto something good.

One word of caution, though... don't get so caught up in catching up that you burn out. That happened to me. When I found that I could have it ... I tried to get it all. Found myself working 60+ hours, taking senior and graduate level courses at the university... Then I crashed big time. Make sure to sleep plenty, keep well rounded.

Good for you, Keila!
Take time for you and yours first. Then when time permits, you'll be able to work in the idle pleasure of skinning and such.

Thanks guys
When the time comes that I come up with an idea or something I will take it slow instead of working on it constantly.
GM, I do not work right now. That is one of the things I am hoping to be able to do again soon. Just something to do. I wouldn't even care about pay I just would love to have a job and be out of the house more again. Baby step, yes. That's why I have not jumped into it yet. If I were to do too much at once I could back slide. I am fortunate that sleep has never been a problem for me though.

Keila -
Sorry to hear that you'll be gone for a while, but you need to take care of yourself. I too suffer from panic/anxiety disorder ( for many years now) At one point years ago my life was at a standstill, I was afraid of EVERYTHING. It started to seriously affect my job and home life. Medication unfortunately did not work for me, it only made me more axious. What DID help, was when on one of my frequent trips to the hospital emergency room (thinking for sure I was dying), one smart, caring Doctor said to me: "Cris, you've been here so much, we all know you by now. I feel you are suffering from axiety disorder and I have done some research for you and found you a self help group". Boy, did that change my life!! I met twice a week with 20 or so other people just like me, and we all helped each other working thru our fears. Keila -if you ever want to talk or if I can help in any way, let me know and Ill give you my email add. Take care and be strong.

Breaks are good....[except in bones]...

I'm off, too....for a few days of keeping an eye on the antics of MotoGP riders like Valentino and Mad Max around Phillip Island [my 'other' job]....

Let's hope we all return refreshed and invigorated.....

Keila, having a break sounds wonderful. Stress can do numbers on ya. Hope ya feel better. There are other stuff to do than sitting by the comp. Take care yourself.

I'm told I need to get away from my computer too...At least you're doing something about it, unlike me. Taking a break will make you feel so much better about yourself. Have all the time you need. Just don't forget about us!

Well, I am bring this thread back up with some good news
The meds have worked wonderfully and I am going to be able to go out and work again. I am starting off on something slow so as to not have to many bad memories of bad experiences come back.
As you might have seen i took time to update my first cursor set. I wanted it mostly for myself and thought of the idea of updating on the anniversary of it's original upload.
Keila wishes there were more holidays
I may just have to make some up.

This is fantastic to read

Take your time and stick to your plan as it evolves, you know peoples here are here for you anytime for any reason!

Work is, ummm, good? Yeah work is good or my wife keeps trying to convince me is it at least

Hey, good luck with it and know that peoples are here for you anytime and for any reason, really really

Best of luck to you Keila. Everyone needs a break sooner or later. Just take time and breathe a little, live and laugh a little. Sometimes life can jump up out of nowhere and really throw us some curves, but thats common knowledge I guess. You'll find center again, I am sure of it.
