Why do men like cars, want to mow the lawn and not sweep the floor...

At least acording to this article.
I always wondered why I just don't care at times if the floor isn't swept, but the house outside has to look spotless.
And I always throw my clothes off at the front door.

Funny, I am easy to talk to when I get agree. I don't foam at the mouth or nothin.
Do you agree with some of the stuff in this article? I don't but some of it seems scientific enough to make me wonder.

Men are men and women are women. If one could mold the other totally to their liking, how boring!!! Communication: ie, lady has a job outside the home, floor needs vacumning, instead of her getting mad because she thinks the man should notice the dirt and just do it, she should simply ask that he help out and vacumn. Now if she realizes that he probably will not notice the dirt the next time and she may have to ask again..... so be it.
There are probably incidences where the man notices the dirt and the lady doesn't.

But I still don't care.
I would rather watch a football game or some cartoons... even the news. I am not a dust 'noticer' unless it has piled up into dust bunnies.Personally, I think you can train yourself to look for those things. When I was taking care of a child many years ago, I noticed everything (once I realized if I didn't she could get hurt) and I was sweeping, covering electrical sockets and other tidey things.
I think it really is a matter of personality or depends on your society as to how you act or used to acting like.

I think that article would be more believable if the research was done by a woman, not a man
Maybe he's just trying to get his wife to quit nagging him.
I really don't think that our brains are that different....if so, I must have a man's brain, or my husband and I switched part of our brain. I really could care less what the inside of the house looks like. The only rooms that I really pay attention to if they are "clean" are the kitchen and bathrooms. My husband vacuums 95% of the time and does more laundry than I do. Of course, he also like mowing, but he vacuums in the same sort of neat lines that he mows in, so they are kind of related.
Anyway, that was a bunch of babble.... The point is- it's all individual. All people have different ways of looking at things. The neatest person that I have ever known was a guy in college. My husband always talks to me at night about how the day went. We both do stuff around the house. We both like cars..... hmmmmmm
On another note, though, about our brains. Do you ever wonder what "instincts" we still have? Every creature on this earth has instincts. I think that one of our instincts is still to be by water, and that is why people are still so drawn to living next to lakes.

I cook, clean, do laundry, take care of my 2 year old....I hate mowing the lawn... and the car can stay dirty until it rains

I do keep the inside of the house pretty tidy

I felt that the article was trying to say that because of specific chemicals that we respond to different situations or tasks by instinct (I guess) differently.
I have wondered too, Karma, if there is any instinct left in the human brain under normal conditions. I would assume so but can't think of any at the moment.

| #10 by Citizen Dianekk - 10/13/2003 9:14:42 PM WHERE IS THE GUY THAT LIKES TO MOW THE YARD!! Where is he, where?? |
He lives in my house. His name is Jeff. He has a $10,000 lawn mower. (well, it's a Grasshopper tractor, but he mainly uses it for mowing the lawn). Actually, the Grasshopper is fun to drive around, so I really can't blame him!

Ive never cared about cars but then I also am prolly one the worlds WORST housecleaners, somehow I got the Anti Clean gene instead of my moms neat freak one. I love clutter as its what makes me feelsafe n secure hehe. I have stacks n stacks of letters n such. No one else can find a thing in my office but I seem to know to within an inch of each stack where something from a yr ago is.
