Saving as .gif format will always loose colors since its a format use for web applications it limits the amount of colors to 256.

If you have Photoshop, and the number of colors on your GIF is less than 256, then I believe that Photoshop can optimize the palette (or so I hear) used by the GIF so that it will lose as little quality as possible. I don't think that MS paint has this ability.

DM... if your image contains less than 256 colors, you shouldn't lose any even with Paint.

What I use to do when I skinned Beatnik, I'd throw it in Uleads Gif-X/Color Shift, and save...Did the trick with all my colorful colors

in all programs you will lose qualitty when saving in GIF but if you use photoshop or paintshop you will lose less color than in paint.
