Exile??

Saturday, October 4, 2003 by joseph morgan joseph morgan | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have just been reading over this message board (board am I) And there are a few odd things I have come accross. But one that really baffles me is this exile thing. I wont name anyone as i dont know anybody here, yet. But why is someone "exiled" if they state an opinion that is not in agreement with most others? Even when there was no swearing or bad language? Just an opinion.
Good or Bad.
Seems that the replies to these posts are alot more hostile then the original thread!! Im not saying anyone is stupid but even if what they say is somewhat unintelligable, does that mean he/she gets exiled? Wow very harsh. This one particular thread goes on and on for 4 or 5 pages. But the original author posted only once.

I dont get it.
I hope im not "exiled" for writting this. Is that not why we fight wars? Iraq?
so people are not punished for thier thoughts right or wrong, good or bad?
Sounded like he was letting off some steam but he did not flame anyone.
very interesting logic here.

oh well, just one persons thoughts

like a trial in a court,

Yeah, I totaly agree, stardock should do this the official way or let the RIAA get this kid, however that is not realistic. The fact he used illegal software IS proved, he claimed he did, and he claimed he used the 'legal' version too, however when admins asked for his serial he couldn't give it.

And yes, I do believe that you are UzEE, but that is just something personal.

Lets say 'Its You'

Isn't UzEE the same person who linked to a site that loaded up a virus on your computer???

That to me is definaitly worth an exile.

um, ok, dont know about UzEE, and I dont know why my name is on here 2x, kinda funny. So from what I can gather, this site IS Stardock. Which is why so called "pirated" software is banned or something to that effect. yes?

Sorry, im a little confused by some of the replies here.
I guess I can understand why the topic is locked, not really going anywhere.
But man, maybe a warning first?
I have tried to find a list of guidelines and have not found anything related to this.

Speaking for myself, if I do or say something thats out of line, cant you just let me know? And if im a jerk about it then I guess "exile" is appropriate?

um...for those of you that replied and I can understand, , thanx

Something to that effect, though it is all pirated software and not just Stardock.

You can change your nickname in "edit account".

Usually the person who gets exiled has had lots of warning. Someone arguing about the good of a seemingly pirated copy of the company's own software might take a fast track to that status.

Thing is, when a person has been a jerk in multiple threads you won't necessarily see the warning, but there is usually at least one. Sometimes many.

....
don't know about UzEE

.... I wouldn't click on his links if I were you.

Yes, I have to add...I have had many arguments by stating my opinions..Right MadIce?? But I have never once been "threatened" with exile..I also do not use "offensive colorfull adverbs and adjectives", It takes a real poor judgemnt to lose your WC privliages...So this is a very forgiving site on stating opinions...We are all aware that I belive most irc's are just subversive file swapping networks and Have had many long drawn out battles..Yes I realize ppl here do not use them for swapping, but when approched from an ordinary comp user at my work.I have had to terminate employes for using IRCs to pirate...So I know for a fact ppl do use it for that pourpose..But that is not what this threade is about. Its hard to get exiled here and you have to be vary rude to be deemed exilable.

Sometimes people who are nuisances who continually disrupt the boards simply have their posting privileges removed, rather than being exiled. So they can still use the site but not post on the message board. Ususally the poster is given sufficient warning.

The deal is, while this is a site open to the public it is privately owned and run. So the site owner and admins have the right to decide what may be posted and who may be post on their boards or in more egregious cases, who may be exiled. Posters with a modicum of common sense should have no problems on this site.

Also I had read Uzees thread that got him exiled..And I know why also..It was very mean and umm "colorful" , plus I understand he did several "very bad things"..To more point out..I remeber a little while back I belive Morphium was accused of ripping and was exiled..Im not sure if he really was, but it wAS ALSO FOR HIM GETTING MAD AND SPAMMING EVERYONE...But he is still on the site and treated very respectably..(hes a darn good skinner)..But he is still here..Just goes to show what they will and will not tolerate and what they will forgive.

I am pretty sure when KarmaGirl is not busy she will look up and find out that UzEE is here again. And then he will get exiled...again.

This site is very forgiving. I am living proof.

If UzEE is here, he's not using his IP, since it was banned.  Also, by the email that he sends me, I', pretty sure he's not on this site, or he is connecting from a"friends" computer.

But, back to the topic.  Nobody gets "exiled" for a simple reason.  There are certain things that are not tolerated (and shouldn't be tolerated anywhere) and are common sense.  1) Don't go on a commercial site and tell people how to get warez of the software.  2) Don't tell people to *bleep* off and expect that they will welcome you with open arms.  3) Don't complain about how the commercial versions of software work when you didn't actually buy it.  There is nothing worse than people complaining about "buggy" warez software.  4) When an admin "warns" you, listen.  They aren't picking on you.  If they were picking on you, then you wouldn't be able to log in.

Most of the time people don't even get "exiled".  They get turned into a "visitor".  There are also things that we look at when we decide what to do with an offense.  1) How bad was the offense?  (If it was really bad, none of the rest of the points matter.)  2) Is this the first time the person did this?  3) Are they a contributor to the site by either submitting work or by purchasing?  4) Are they a previously exiled person posting under an alias?

The point is: we don't exiled people on a whim, and you won't get exiled for an "opinion" unless your opinion is a bunch of obscene language or is about warez.

There is one more particular case here at WC. UzEE. Who got exiled for using pirated softwares ( Which was never actually Prooved ), Keeps poping back (even a few admins and users think that i am him ). He created atleast 5 or 6 accounts that we know, but claimed to have a lot more at WC.

Ok, ya' little jerk.  I've really had enough of you.  You can call yourself anything you like, but you are just UzEE to me.  Part of me was hoping that one of these days you will be smart enough not to point yourself out.  I was just ignoring you until you emailed me and then posted this.  It's funny how you are not "UzEE" yet you share the same IP as "Mr. Angry" (which is what you changed your name to when you became a "visitor".)  not sure what happened to the IP ban....but it will be fixed.  Buh bye!  So long and thanks for all the fish......Oh, and *Do not* email me.  I really dislike you coming on here as a fake and right out telling people you are not who you are (that's a reason to be exiled on it's own) Please take the hint and just go away..... (Oh, and I left you a "visitor" for awhile so that you could read this.....)
