DesktopX Start Button?

Saturday, October 4, 2003 by SubtleGrace | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Is it possible to have a DesktopX object that, when pressed, will bring up the Windows XP start menu? I want it to open the real start menu, not an objectbar or another DesktopX item, and I want to have the full Windows XP start menu, not just a shortcut to that folder.

Sure. I think this will work for XP too, this is how I do that in 2K...

Make a doc in Notepad or whatever with the following text , and save it (anywhere, it doesn't matter) as startmenu.vbs. Then just make a new OD object, make it a shortcut to this VBS file, and make the icon whatever.

set wShell=wscript.createobject("wscript.shell")
wShell.sendkeys "^{ESC}"

Create a new object, under additonal properties choose add, and select Start Menu 2. Change the mouse away state, and add a mouse over and mouse down state if you wish.
Assuming you have DX 1.99...?

I do have DX 1.99 but I don't see any of what you're talking about... Start Menu 2 doesn't come up in any of the options available to me, nor do I see anything marked "Additional Properties" - am I just looking in the wrong place here?

Whoops, there it is. "Additional Abilities" was where it was. Thanks!
