Tons of pictures in backgrounds won't show up on my computer.

Use a paint program to convert them to .bmp form(bitmaps), not jpeg(.jpg).

What OS are you using? What are you calling a background? As WOM pointed out, you need to tell us exactly what you mean............ we can read your mind, but it gives us a headache.
