Battery Object

Friday, September 19, 2003 by Bryan Cooke | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Looking to create a battery object - time / percent remaining, graphical representation, etc. I seem to be running into dead ends on ways to query battery status from the system. Does anyone know of a good way to do this?

TIA,
Bryan

I think I made a small .exe for that about 2 years ago.

Anyone else have any ideas on this or some code that I could look at.

Could probably do it through DesktopX using WMI. Think I saw mention of it somewhere in the long lists of what you can query.

Take a look at http://pjpowell.dyndns.org/DX-WMI/WMI_and_how_it_impacts_on_DesktopX.htm for some info on getting started. I will be taking a look at this myself also as it seems a good idea for an object.

There IS a plugin that can show battery percent. It's called performance meter. It works well for me.

Thanks guys, I've tried using WMI, but I seem to get a lot of nothing when I query the battery object. I've also experimented a little with the new meter plugin. Does anyone know where you can find documentation for these plugins. Like what methods and properties are available from them.
