problem with ATI graphics card

well, i got my brand new laptop with ATI mobility radeon 9000. there is a problem.
when i play a game, sometimes the computer hangs up. i am not able to continur and i have to shut down the system. what is the problem?
these are my system specs:
P4 2.8 GHZ,
256 MB DDR SDRAM
30GB ultra ata/100 hdd
DVD,CDRW
15'' XGA TFT lCD.
Windows XP.
Acer Aspire 1604LC...

The other day I went on a hunt and could not get the UK server to connect...
I do know that I found that MS has a patch for the ATI cards because of an issue with the DVD and Video when playing NTSC format video on their ftp server...
Which might be a problem causing thing when playing games...

if you download and try one and it dosen't work you always can rollback the driver and then try again.
