I'm trying to make a skin in skinstudiom but whenever I try and double click an image to edit it, I am told that there is no application associated with tga files, however, PSP7 is associated with tga files. Any ideas?

Shell open is at the top of the list, but it still doesnt seem to be working.

It's been a while, but here is what I remember doing:
I did this for PhotoShop, but should be the same for PSP7.
I added PS to the list of apps in the 'Edit' pulldown.
(Go to the "Adjusted image area" and click the little arrow beside the "Edit" button. Click on 'customize' and add PS to the list of usable apps.)
Then, whenever I ran into a .tga file I would again click on the little arrow and select PS as the app to use to edit the file with.
PS then opened the file.

Yes, PSP7 is associated with tga files, but the tga file format must be selected in preferences--->file association in you psp prog. Is it? Also, you say shell open is at the top of your list of editing apps in skin studio, but you don't mention if PSP is listed there. Is it? Both of these criteria mst be present for you to use PSP to edit tga files. Also, if PSP is your default, that should be at the top of the list.

It is set in PSP fine, do I need to manually add it in skinstudio, I thought shell open would be fine.

Shell open works just fine for me.......... PSP isn't in the list.

Ok. My bad. I stand corrected. I just played with SS a bit. I took psp out of the list . and moved shell open to the top . And , low and behold... you're right. Psp did open up to edit the image. 
Never knew this. Ive had psp in the list from the start. Ya learn something new every day. However, Psp (if this prog is going to be used to edit tga. files) does have to be configuerd (associated) with that format. Koasati taught me something new today

My next thought would be to check the file types in your folder options and make sure that tga. is associated with PSP

It may be that PSP associated with the other action - not "Shell Edit" but "Shell Open", so try to go to "Customize" and move the "Shell Open" to the top in the list. If it's not it you may always add the PSP to the list by explicitly adding the exe. Click the "Add" button and browse for the PSP exe file. Move the newly added item to the top to make it the default editor. whatever is on top of that list is called as the default editor on double click, or when you click the "Edit" button.

What "Shell Open" does, amongst other things, is prevent multiple openings of PSP. That can be aggravating if you are editing one graphic after another.

I see.... I have no experience in PSP whatsoever, and this is default behaviour of PS so I didn't think PSP would do it any different.
