Where the H... did my stuff go when I download it?

Saturday, September 6, 2003 by Dianekk | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Everytime I hit download, my stuff went into my unzipped file and I picked it up there and threw it in the file it belonged in, i.e., Sysmetric, Object Dock, Logon, whatever. Now all of a sudden, it flies off into Never-never-land and I don't even know where the crap it went. What gives. Did the new downloads I do with the Stardock Central decide to throw it somewhere else. I looked in Object Zip and nothing. What gives. I don't even know where the stuff is!

Just a guess, but check out My Documents folder. I always right click on the download and save target as, that way I can tell it where to put it.

You can do a search and find where they are.

I've always used a download manager, and use a specific Download Folder, so I'm not much help. If you tell us what OS you're running, someone might know where your phantom folder might be.

C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\Download. In SDC settings you can change the file to anything you want....

just try doing a search on some of the files and see if it doesn't find one, if it finds one, you'll prolly find the rest sitting pretty right beside it.

It's a Windows bug that does that.  Still haven't figured it out.

Best suggestion is, instead of just hitting the download link, right click on it and choose "save target as" and then choose a location to save it as.  After it is downloaded, double click on the file and it will unzip it to the right program.  You can get rid of the download or archive it at this point.

KG - ....the default download folder in the Stardock Folder is not created when you update SDC. If you create a folder in the Stardock folder and name it 'Download' they will download properly to that folder. You also can re-direct it anywhere you want by changing the default folder in settings.
