Is the WinCust. Browser getting replaced?

Thursday, September 4, 2003 by elvee | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I just updated Stardock Central and noticed the new browsing features. Is this a beginning of a Phaseout of the SkinBrowser? I mean, it is a pretty nice feature for SDC to do everything, so this is no gripe, just curious.

I can't log into my Stardock.net account in the new SD Central > I can still log into my Stardock.net account in WC and my web browsers (IE and Mozilla). I can't figure out what's wrong.

Click on 'Edit Stardock Account' (while you're there make sure info is right) click ok and then re-start SDC. For some reason in the past, that sometimes jump starts the proggie. You can also switch your connection and see if that server lets you in.

I tried both suggestions. It still fails to log in.

You don't have a cookie killer running, do you?

right click on the discussion tool bar where the different sections are displayed and then click reset... it should download all of the messages on each respective section, dunno about you watched threads though
you might also be able to move your discussion files from the WinCBrowser into the SDCBrowsers folders for discussions?

No, I have nothing like that running in the background. The only anti-spy software I use is Ad-Aware which I run a scan with once a week. The only cookies it finds to delete are tracking cookies from advertisers. I have even tried disabling my firewall and anti-virus software and SD Central still fails to log in.

Go to https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp log in and then try SDC again while you still have IE running

I'm not a great believer in un-install/re-install processes, but in this case, since no one else seems to have the same problem, it might be the way to go........

unless you've tried that already...

also as yarg points out, you might have hit the point of diminishing returns in messing with it...

I have tried checking my software registration. It looks like reinstall is the only option left. I will do it tommorrow when I have time to mess around with the whole process of reinstalling SD Central.

Randy....that'd be because that's exactly how many sticky threads there are at the moment...

ah....you might want to look again Paul. My score in IE is: General-1, Help-2, Skinning-4.

yrag....yes, bt I was referring to there now only being one sticky in the general section that Randy seemed to be concerned about....as there were 5 or 6 previously......it's not a problem with the browser....the number was reduced in reality...

Please email support issues to [email protected] so that Stardock can be made aware of the issues and resolve them.  Most of our staff doesn't hang out here.  (Including the developer of SDC) and T-Man is mighty busy right now.
