I have seven of the mongrels...
This one [I'm using] is the 'prime' one...P111/500 - 1 gig ram....needs upgrading so GrandPrix 4 can run properly....but otherwise only loses my email to remind me it's a Pooter and don't forget it.
My wife's one...P11/333 - 256 meg ram....likes to BSOD in XP [and 98]....issues with the NT4 driver for the GeForce 2 card....no-go for games.
Fiddling one...P200 - 256 meg ram ....locks up in 2K....even the 3D screensavers...eg 3D text....again I'm betting issues with the Vid Driver....Diamond Viper 770 card...again no luck with 3D.
OK one...P233 64 meg ram....seems fine...happy with 98 s/e but then it's an 4 meg PCI card, not an AGP pain in the bum.
Junk ones...
486DX4/100 Win 98s/e
486DX2/50...laptop - OK for Win 95 [no CD-rom]
486SX2/33 - makes a good bookend.
Ultimately the hand-me-down process will happen when I upgrade to a P4 board, CPU and appropriate ram. Essentially I'll be shuffling components down the food-chain...and the bottom-dwellers will shuffle off this mortal coil.
Latest frustration is downloading DirectX 9 and burning that [and other bits] to install by CD to the P200 and its drive refuses to see the disk...[the other Pooters aren't so fussy...they can see it].
Don't ya just love 'em?....

Jafo - I feel your pain buddy. My computer was a PII/450 until I built a new (and amazingly cheap) machine with an AMD 2200 and a great graphics card (FX5600Ultra), DVD burner, 1Gig PC2700, and blue lights (~! <-temporary excitement) so I gave the old one to my wife (a major upgrade from her P200MMX) and it died two weeks later... so now she has the same system I have and hers only cost $400 to build (no DVD burner and 512Mb PC2700) of course we couldn't afford either one but we couldn't work without them either!! freakin electronic vampires is what they are... they've stolen our souls and replaced the outdoors with sedentary labor.
pooters indeed...

"The Idiot Bastard Son" is a pretty tune that comes off like a eulogy. It's about a kid born to parents who don't care about him; the father turns out to be one of the Nazi-like politicians in "Plastic People" and the mother's a hooker. The title works in two ways, as it describes the boy and also sarcastically labels him as seen through authorities' eyes. A kid who's told he's an idiot will act like one and soon truly be one.
The bastard, abandoned by his folks and raised by Kenny and Ronnie (he's an incarnation of the combined characteristics of the two brothers), is "stashed away in a jar" by Kenny; it's probably one of the Mason jars, but the Uncle Meat kid's parents will be "Sleeping in a Jar" in that 1969 song. Such lyrics mainly to refer to sex without care for the consequences (kids) and careless parents who abandon their children, who in turn become stupid.
The midsection was singled out by Frank as one of his favorite parts of the album, at least in concept.

CDROMS in this age of obesity should all be able to digest 700Mb's - anything less is just uncivilized. Nice work finding a solution Jafo... most impresive. If you can keep this machine going long enough it could prove there was once a less complicated age when we all knew how type on a command line and re-booting was fun...
