DX2 Poll

As there doesn't seem to be many themes made using DX2, I was just wondering how many people actually have it installed. Also, are users finding it difficult to write themes for DX2 or having any problems etc.

Yeah i have had similar problems withsome of the pre DX2 themes. I am going to bear with it for a while but if i cannot get some of my older ones like "Colony" to work properly then i am going to unintall DX2 and go back to an earlier version.

Since you're here gef, I wanted to ask you if you were planning on updating some of your DX themes to DX2.

Creating the themes doesn't seem to be and issue, if you can live with the constant crashing of DX while you are creating it.
I myself, am trying to learn some scripting and am focusing on that for the time being. Overall though, I do like DX2 better than the older versions.

If I find more users want DX2 - I will use it also.

I'm certainly one who is using DX2 who didn't bother with the earlier DX. I think most are waiting to release more objects and themes until DX2 is final. There is a potential that some things won't work otherwise.
DX2 is an excellent addition to any desktop.

gef-DX2 is alot more complicated than the last versions. The way I learned DX was to take a complete theme and break it down to see how everything works togeather. No one has made a theme yet for me to do that, just objects. But I did have a fish swim across my screen which was bazaar.

I think DX2 has a great future ahead of it. You have much more capabilities and I would LOVE to see a DX2 theme from you Gef. I never used any of your DX1 themes because I found DX1 to be a pain to deal with. Perhaps it will be different on DX2. I truly hope to see you make some! You are a fantastic artist.

I think DX is one of the best if not the best utilities I have used. Yes its agrivating that you cant use the old with the new (very) but I guess thats just going to keep the artist on their toes, and hamper my progress alittle.
Still love DX.

If you are talking about DX masters then you should not forget pjpowell. Not only his themes are great, but his scripts are State of the Art.

To answer the original question, I use DX, but I don't install themes. I just like DX for the little extra objects it can provide, such as a calendar, a weather object, etc.
I don't care for changing how to use my computer. I like the start panel, the taskbar, the systray the way they are.
