Skype VS WinFX

Wednesday, July 22, 2020 by RedneckDude | Discussion: WindowFX

Hey guys, I can't get WindowFX to animate the latest version of Skype.  It worked fine until Skype updated on me.

WindowFX V. 6.05

Skype version 8.61.0.100
Application version 15.61.100.0

Quoting RedneckDude,

This should have been done a week ago. Not that it would have mattered.

Did you miss my reply#12?

No, I didn't miss it. But excluding Skype isn't acceptable. Especially since it worked before.

I will repeat, this issue happens on multiple machines, with widely varying setups.  It did just begin recently, so may have to do with a Skype update, or maybe even Windows 10 2004.  I dunno.

Have you been able to test with it excluded yet?

Works fine with Skype excluded.

Good to know... We have noted some issues as well...

Without Skin:

With WB skin applied, Skype does not wobble, Edge has issues as well:

So we will look at it. Ty for the report:

Having looked at the code, with WB running WFX will disable animations when in the Skype process.  However this has been the case since Skype v4 (it is v8 now).  Nothing should have changed recently in this regard.

I imagine it would be a newer WB build to address this as Skype has changed drastically since it needed the special handling, but right now I do not have an estimate for when there would be a WB update.

Skype has been animating fine, and still is for Basj.

As I mentioned it is fine for me, but, I excluded Skype from Windowblinds.

Thank you,

Skype animates fine with Curtains, just not with WindowBlinds.  But it did last week.

I wish I could explain that as the code says it should never have animated with any v4 or later version of Skype when WB was in use.

As I said this would need a WB update to alter.

I get it Neil.   I wish I could explain that it did anyway. It defied your code.

The app version only. I learned of it animating via Sean, a few months ago when I reported this before. Which is why I moved to the app version.

Waste of breath, but for the record, just a month or so ago, Skype did animate with WinFX and WindowBlinds applied.  I didn't dream it.

Just saying.
