I have never in my life 'twittered'....or is it 'twitted'...

2 'pages' on Facebook....one is a closed group of about 10 friends from the 70's, and the other is a bicycle club/group.

I spend more time actually monitoring activity on JU....'Spam Hunter' ....

I have never bothered with any kind of social media platform, I don't even like texting on the phone. This forum here at Wincustomize and Stardock is the only place I communicate publicly , because I'm a skinner and I've been a member of the community here for so long.

Are you referring the fact checking incident that happened the other day? If so I don't see it as a political bias but rather as an effort to make sure the truth is told. Correct me if I'm wrong as to your motivation. Thanks

Same here!  I never saw the fascination in so-called social media platforms and have avoided them like the plague after getting nothing but trouble and 1000's of unsolicited spam emails from Facebook..... 'do I know this person, do I know that person?   Nope, never again.

Saying things like Facebook is not for me without further investigating how to use it and learn what you can do and alter a LOT of settings to make it fit your needs and use, is like installing a product from Stardock and never alter any of the settings and say it does not behave like you want it to, and never use it again - ever.

I never get e-mails from Facebook. I never see ads. I never see posts from people I don't know. All I see are posts from friends/acquaintances and groups that I have joined including a very useful closed/private one with things related to my work. Some groups are not that different from the forum here.

Also, Facebook Messenger is a full fledged text/photo/video/phone communication platform that I would prefer any day compared to my phone. SMS/MMS on phones are great, but come on, I doubt you have access to 1920x1080 or larger on a big screen, great sound and not to forget the keyboard on your phone.

I only ever went to Facebook just the once, to sign up and to adjust the settings to suit my needs.  Within an hour of creating my account I began getting dozens and dozens of unsolicited emails - spam, if you will - trying to set me up with various users around the world.  It got so bad that MS emailed me to say that my hotmail account would be terminated if Facebook didn't cease and desist.

I contacted Facebook to stop sending emails I neither wanted or asked for, but they still kept coming.  In the end I abandoned that email address and created a new email account.... meaning that Facebook was sending its spam to an unattended email address until MS deleted it entirely.  I've not had any issues since.  Thing is, I neither want or need social media platforms, preferring to keep in touch with family and friends via phone.

I still pretty vividly remember Leo Laporte doing a segment on his radio show late 2006 or so about this new little application called Twitter & how you could 'follow' accounts of people you found interesting, mostly computer nerds like Leo.  Seems like Kim Komando mused about it around that time as well.  Neither had any idea how the cancer would grow.

Never appealed to me, never had an account or handle, though I lurk on 3 or 4 accounts for simple entertainment value, one of whom will be remembered as the Will Rogers or Mark Twain of blogging (tough call between them).  Don't have a Facebook page.  I'm lucky to get what I need to get done IRL these days, though I must confess to spending too many hours here back in the late 90's & 2000's when political discussions were way more fun.

It’s selection bias. And I don’t think Twitter is the arbiter of “the truth”.

I don't post on anything but Facebook, and here on WC. On Facebook my friends are mainly family, fellow skinners, and close friends. I have no use for Twitter or any other social site at all, and never will.

Facts are facts and that's troubling to some folks. Darn old facts always seem to spoil things.

You are confusing facts with opinions you agree with.  For instance, mail in voting fraud does happen. That is a fact.

This is a ridiculous and petty justification.  The incidence of voter fraud is quite low while disenfranchising voters through gerrymandering is far more common.

Once upon a time we mailed in our tax forms.  We didn't hear any cries to stop doing that just because some mailed tax forms had "errors".

I think the motivations for declaring mailed in ballots can't be trusted is dishonest and a prelude for attempt to nullify votes in an upcoming election.

There's a fear that a large voter turn out will not bode well for the current administration. That I think is the motivation for the current administration to lie about mail in voting being “substantially fraudulent.” It is not and that is a fact.

In reality any method of voting can be suspect. Go to your local....cast a vote...get your name ticked off....go to another outside your area...vote as absentee ...say 'no' to 'have you voted already today'...fraud...illegal....but too late to be corrected.  Compulsory voting at least dilutes the fraudulent activity.  Last few years i've done postal voting just to avoid the running of the gauntlet of all those how-to-vote handouts...and the salmonella in a bun called sausage sizzle....
