Today was my last day at Disney... :(

Friday, August 1, 2003 by mormegil | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Today Was my last day working for The Walt Disney Corporation, no longer will I be able to proudly say "I'm a computer artist for Disney" And let me tell you it was a hard decision to make.
I am moving on to something, I think will be better for me, and hopefully more fulfilling. But working for Disney was a treat, and I will miss the people there very much. If you ever get the chance to work for Disney, and you here people speak of the "Disney Spirit" don't be fooled, It is real, and intoxicating. It is a sad day for me. But it is time to move on.
You will all see me arrowed allot more in the future. And Hopefully this move will be for the best, at least as my skinning is concerned.
Don't know why I felt the need to post this. But This community is made up of allot of great people I consider my friends. And I needed to "cry" on someones shoulder.
I will see you all in September.

Wow...that sounds like a hard decision indeed, Master mormegil. The chance to work for Disney had to be not only a feather in your cap but a fun and artistically fulfilling [and dare we say even 'playful'] environment with which to work in.

But be strong in your resolve that you made the best decision for YOU and don't look back but if you do only in memory of good lessons and good people and good times which bring you smiles...

Best wishes from e-bros!

Yes, good luck, oh Master Mormegil! I'm sensing something suspicous though. Neither you, nor Frogboy mentioned where you would be heading although you do say:

You will all see me arrowed allot more in the future.

And:

this move will be for the best, at least as my skinning is concerned.

Hmm, interesting, very interesting.

deleted dons his detective costume, complete with mustache and magnifying glass.

I remember what happened when Disney laid off of their top illustrators and then asked him to do one last job before he left (the Little Mermaid box art).

Should we watch for the packaging on the next cartoon release on video?

Last year I also left a company that I loved. Much like a boy's dream. Finding such a company is hard. We worked hard to make it a success. But it wasn't enough and the company went down. Such is life. Now work feels like work again. But I in luck. Working part time for Stardock brought me some great friends. So, the boy's dream has gone, but I still can do something that I love. What's more, trough this community I also found someone that I love dearly. At the moment she is having a rough time, but I consider myself lucky I've found her. What I am trying to say is that every time has its highlights.

Good luck in your new job. I am sure you will love it.

Paul, whatever you are moving on to, I am sure you will make rewarding in your own way. You're an incredible artist and a nice guy which carries it's own promise. Good luck with your endeavor and I am anxious to see what new works lie ahead!
