WindowBlinds make Iperius Tape Restore Window freeze

Incompatible with an app

Sunday, March 15, 2020 by Bob4K | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I use Windows 10 version 1909 build 18363.657 and WindowBlinds10.84, with the corporate skin and Iperius has problems when trying to restore a tape:

https://www.iperiusbackup.com

version 7.0.1 shows a windows which fills up a tree of all the files on tape, progressively while reading the tape content.

When WB is loaded, and using the tape restoration dialog, the restore dialog window hangs up when creating a large volume of files to select (630000 for my main backup). Most  of the time it's when it's done and displays the top of the tree, more rarely in the middle of the tape reading.

It's cut and dry, if I unload WB before starting the restore process, the dialog does not hang.

If I reload WB after that, while the dialog is still active it hangs.

It's a bit random, sometimes it does not hang, but it's rare. And it does not when there is a small number of files.

I don't see how to include an image, so I posted it on Postimage.org:

Adding Iperius to excluded programs does not help.

I tried 2 skins (Corporate and Precision), same result.

I also posted this question on Stardock compatibility issues forum, no answer so far.

Thanks.

I have asked Iperius support too, but I guess that they don't have anyway to understand what's happening.

Note that you can install a free Iperius trial to test, but you would also need to have a tape deck!

It's likely also that they would help you with a free license, at least that's what I would do if I was selling a product not working with yours.

Another (old) programs that hangs with WindowBlinds:

MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2008

It's obsolete, but I like it much better for help on basic Win32 API calls than more recent VS help.

As soon as you start a search, it hangs.

I made the test to start it on a W10 machine as a RDP single program session from a W7 machine, and it still hangs.

So, it's really the interaction between the program and the skin that makes it hang, even if it's actually running on another computer.

So, nobody can help?

I won't bump it anymore, but the lack of support is disappointing.

It's just impossible for us to test (especially with the pandemic) as you pointed out yourself:
