The last 48 hours drove me crazy!

Well it is good to be back I guess. Let me tell everyone what happened. 
Thursday morning was no different than any other, I woke up late (3 days off, this was my second) and botted up the old emachines. I got up after checking my email and the message board. Then it happened!
My power supply finally hit the dust!
So after trying to get the power supply to come back to life for hours, and after calling every computer shop in town (and some out of town) I finally got ahold of our neighbors downstairs and he let me borrow one of his power supplies. I booted the machine and everything seemed OK. XP said it just recovered from a crash or something like that. No sooner did I check my email when something else happened!
My hard drive bit the dust! >
It had been making weird noises for the last month and apparently when the power supply went it took the HD with it cause I could not get XP running again. Machine keep booting over and over. XP said it could not write to disk. So Friday I bought a new 2 gig drive hoping that would get me by.
NOT! My Mobo decided to through a fit and die to. By 5:00 pm today I was pissed. So I turned on my playstation to get some relief, bit my lip cause I missed WC, and played Final Fantasy 7.
I only got 5 hours into it before the game hung up on me! dame murphy law... Anything that can go wrong will.
Luckily UPS dropped off my new Dell laptop that I have been waiting for forever today so until next week I am stuck on my laptop.
I am glad to see everyone!

By The Way I forgot to add i am stuck using crappy Windows ME, (no memory or HD space for XP) a touchpad and a small monitor. LIFE IS ROUGH FOR KONA!

This reminds me of something I heard about on "Coast to Coast" on the radio at night. They talked about this phenomenon where electronics just go berserk around some people. Some theory about how some people have this electrical field.

lol. happened to me, but little bit more quieter. my just crashed, and it couldn't boot again, ended up replacing vitually all computer parts 
btw that was computer i commented about in customize.org (xxcalc profile) "Computer held together by dust and magnets" because it was so crappy
replaced:
tower ( old with power box that bit dust )
motherboard
floppy drive
hard drive
cpu
cd-r 2x
basdically only things that lived were the video card, ram, and regular cd-rom drive
btw that was computer i commented about in customize.org (xxcalc profile) "Computer held together by dust and magnets" because it was so crappy
replaced:

I am going to have to do the same thing.
the only things that are going to live on would be:
RAM (192 mgs (1 64 stick, 1 128 stick))
LAN card
Celeron chip (500 mhz but it is getting sold)
Hard drive
I hate it this happens!

Basically the same thing happened to me.
Power supply blew out backup drive and cd-rw drive (was getting ridiculously hot). THEN, the power supply literally blew up wit flames comin out the back like a hot rod. Then was having ram problems. Replaced the power supply and all was fine. Odd that it didn't take out my mobo.
Upgraded today to an AMD 2200+ (from an AMD 750). Was shutting down like every 25 seconds from overheating, hehe. Few fans fixed that.

my laptop seems to be ok. I haven't heard the cpu fan come on yet. maybe it dose not have one. how hot can a pentium 233 with a huge heatsink get?

post-300 mhz computers were first ones that needed fans. before that, fan to cool cpu were unheard of

XX...my old P100 had a cpu fan...and I've since found a P90 with one as well...

now I am getting worried. I hope this big heatsink works just as good as a big fan. No problems yet although sisandra says the cpu is running at 157 degrees farientheit.
