CCleaner Pro scam???

CCleaner gave me the option to subscribe for 2 more years at a $20 discount. When I tried to claim the discount they asked for my banking information. Really? The same info they can use to deposit into my account can also be used to withdraw from it. I called to complain and ask why they don't just credit my credit card and was told they could not.

It seems that CCleaner's service is getting worse with every single year. It's very strange when programs ask you to share personal data without any explanations.

CCleaner and Avast Anti-virus were caught up in a scandal awhile back as reported by some Tech watchdog websites. They were collecting private data of users as well as paid subscribers and selling that data to marketing firms. It was highly recommended that you not use any of this software. I uninstalled and stop using both when this was first reported.

Every one you write a check to has all that information. On the bottom of your checks is your account number and the bank's routing number.

Not surprising for me. CCleaner was hacked in 2017 and that's why it lost all the trust. Hackers successfully injected malware in CCleaner's app that was distributed among millions of users. And talking about collecting private data...almost all apps collect it in different ways. The problem is that most softwares we use are hackable, and I have no doubts our private data is distributed among scammers (including government). But as I learned at https://covery.ai/products/ethoca-chargeback-prevention there are many ways to prevent such actions. People really need to understand how to use modern technologies for data protections.

Bypass CCleaner altogether and just snag Glary Utilities, it's a much better program and has a robust feature set for its free version...

I got rid of cCleaner and have gone with Wise Care 365, which is vastly superior to cCleaner.
