Some Object Dock Help Please

These object docks icons (png) are just awesome. But, can anyone direct me to where there are detailed instructions on how to make them? Like e.g. software and then what you do from there. I tried on a friends axilias icon workshop and no luck. I can't figure it out. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Work with an image size of 192 x 192 on a transparent background.Check online for lots of photoshop tricks.Save as a .png
