A question about hard drives

I am looking at purchasing a large capacity hard drive, something 4gb or larger so a ssd is out. Does anyone use a server hard drive for their home computer, something that is meant to run 24/7 like the WD Red? Do these type of drives actually last longer than regular dives such as a WD Blue or a Seagate Baracuda?
I was also considering the Seagate Firecuda for its speed but I would prefer longevity over something fast.
so what do you normally buy for hard drives.

I've enjoyed a WD Black drive. Internal 4 GB is easy to find. I've owned one of those for almost 10 years no issues still runs just like new.
If you went with a NAS drive (WD Red) I'm not sure what the performance or other issues might be but, I would think you would want direct ethernet 1 gb connection for it or it would be as slow as downloading/uploading speeds over wi-fi.
The NAS drive ties into the modem directly and allows for all computers in the network to use it. I've never set one up before but I have considered it due to that feature. However, if all you want is local storage and large capacity skip the NAS and go to an internal or external large capacity HD.
External HD are nice, again you would want the fastest connection possible, also some of those come with their own power supply.

That would not be an issue as I have a fast ethernet connection. I was thinking about the red because I watched a youtube video that showed it being used in a home computer, also the red is a lot cheaper than the black.

I had a WD MyBook network hard drive enclosure and I put 2 WD Reds in it. It was great.
I still use the 2 reds in my computer. They have held up nicely.
I have lost a good bit more Seagates than WDs. I say avoid seagate.

Yes America. The one's I pointed out said free shipping, I don't know how that works in Canada. I'm guessing there's an import tax.

Yes, duty and shipping with the exchange on the currency would bring it to more than I can buy it here. I am a Amazon prime member so I get free shipping.

I got the WD Red 4tb. I like it a lot so far, out of the 4 hard drives in my computer it is the most quiet with the exception of my SSD, performace is decent too.

I never know what to tell anybody about hard drives, and I never know what to believe from the purchaser reviews. My old WDs have been good to me though.

I don't know what are the most reliable but it seems like if you want something more quiet the WD drives are better than Seagate.
