I need your guys help. What kind of computer and computer commonets should I get? I am building myself a new one and the only thing that is written in stone is the fact that it will be AMD. So what would anyone of you guys recommend for any of the other parts? (mobo, video, sound, ethernet, ect)

BTW P4 sucks in my opionion. costs way to much and does not outperform a AMD.

Thanks

Get a real Sound Blaster card. Do not get a cheap imitation. ATI Radeons are pretty good graphics cards. I'm using one right now. I recommend getting a DVD and a CD-RW as seperate drives. If one drive fails, you can still load CD-ROMs off of the other, plus you can most quickly copy CDs by putting master copy in DVD drive, put CD-R in CD-RW drive, and click burn.

Also if you want to have a Windows/Linux dual boot system rather than a Windows only box, go to websites of Linux distros and look through their hardware compatability lists. Mandrake supports the most hardware. At least you can choose parts that are compatible before you build so that Linux installation should be painless.
