I don't want to discourage you, but if I were you, I would begin with a less complex application

I agree with Treetog, I hear skinning WMP is not an easy task

WMP is what I started with. I havent skinned anything else yet. What I do, is I have a base code that I use for all my skins and add and subtract the stuff I need. The original code was created by taking apart about 50 other skins and seeing how the code actually worked. Microsoft.com has a media player software developer kit that I find very useful too. I have it and it has complete code references for everything you can do with WMP. I wish you luck my friend!

Yeah, search the Microsoft site for the documentation. Usually all one needs is a bitmap editor (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro) to make the graphics and a text editor (Notepad) to glue things together.

Take heed of what the 'Tog said if you're not that technical. WMP is one of the more complex apps, so it might be best to start with something simpler. Although, if it's WMP what you want to skin, then go for it.

Oh and by the way, the term is "skinner".

Heres what I use for my skins:

Image Editor: Microsoft Paint, and occasionaly Photoshop

Text Editor: Microsoft NotePad

See, its just basic tools. In terms of making the skins, I'd suggest making a couple of simple little ones then working up from there. Once you get the hang of the code, its pretty simple from there. Once again, good luck!
