I like technology and stuff but is it a good career choice?

Saturday, June 14, 2003 by joetheblow | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I am hoping someone knows a little about the field of technology here...

....

I really like working on computers and doing scripting on code and graphic design, but I also like to eat and pay my bills. Everywhere I go asks for 2-5 years of experience for stuff. I know its a bad job market right now particularly in New York City (and New York in general) but give me a break! (and a chance too)

I here games and animation is hot, as well as e-commerce security, security in electronics in general, and coding for programs (Visual Basic, C++, Java, .NET stuffus)

I really like security, e-commrece, and graphic design, but as I wrote before I like to eat and pay my bills.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I am working toward my MBA/MISM degree but that will take years (2.5 years to be accurate)

Help!

Its a bad job market everywhere... Keep hunting... and don't limit your location...

Games are hot if you have mad skillz... network security isn't as hot as they say it is (take it from someone who's been doing it for years)

Hide in school while you can...

Thanks. I'll be hiding in school for a while. Hope it gets better out there so I can have a career at this. I really like it.

Hang in there mate, follow your dream, 'cause if you don't, later in life you'll only regret not taking the chance. (Says Lockie, speaking from experience ).

your career choice should be doing something that you enjoy (if it's your thing you will excel at it (even if you're not trying cuz it's something you do enjoy so much) however on the other hand doing something you hate you probably would not get anywhere in your career)

keep at it, lots of jobs around that don't have the strict policies of past education requirements as long as you proof yourself worth the risk of going on board w/ them w/o any...
Goodluck!
