How does it work at WC--probably more of a question for admins

Tuesday, June 10, 2003 by Lady_Akasha | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

How does the 'title/ranking' thing work here at wc?

What are the varied levels one can achieve and what does it take to get there?

For instance what takes an apprentice to a Master Apprentice?

What is the deciding factor in bumping up the artists?

I remember in an old Adni thread it was mentioned that as a Master, you don't get moderated--have to get your work approved. Is that a Master Apprentice?

I'm curious about this for varied reasons, and yet the reasons are not as obvious as you're thinking.

I'm hoping for some of you to shed some light on this for me.

It would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

There's some info on the about page about the title levels:

Won't answer all your questions, but it's a start.

visitor - citizen - apprentice - master apprentice - journeyman,

this is my explanation...:

visitor: comes here once in a while, just to download stuff
citizen: Is active in a way.
apprentice: active, and contribute to the site with skinning.
Master apprentice: You only get this when you made a major aproval in your skinning.

The 'About' page is a wee bit out of date......it's revision was put on the back-burner while all the coders were busy with Galactic Civilizations [the creating, not the playing]...but hopefully things will be brought up to date soonish...

Yah, Jafo before I saw your post I was just going to mention it was clearly out of date in some areas due to recent developments, but I figured the user classes were still ok.

visitor: not registered or can not post (some people get demoted to this instead of exiled)

Citizen: registered user

Apprentice: a admin/wizop can promote you to this if you contribute to the site regularly.  (I believe this will also take the download cap off if you have not purchased)

Master Apprentice: A step above Apprentice

Journeyman: this is a person who contributes in many ways and has been promoted a couple times.

Master: auto-uploads.  Has been a community member for a long time and has been promoted by a vote.

Then you have the Wizops and Admins (which are pretty much the same).

How does somebody get promoted?  It's usually due to an wizop/admin noticing your work and participation on the site.

That "about" screen needs some serious updating.  Migeleto is noted as an admin and he hasn't been on the site in over half a year   Alexandrie (who's now a wizop) also does not code the site anymore- it's T-Man with his trusty sidekicks: George and JR (flyin). I guess I will put that on the "list"   I think that was made in the very beginning of the site, so it is quite old.

Cavanaugh I think Mister is offered from the beginning as a title you can choose.
