Still having problems with shellstyles.

Many shellstyle elements are gone from my skins as well as downloaded skins.Have tried the usual uninstall,cleanup and reinstalls but no luck.Tried to add some shellstyles to skins that didnt have any but they usually dont show any change.Had to upload my first skin without some features because i couldnt get them to show.I would like to update my skin to show these elements but i cant get them to work.Any body else having this problem and did you solve it?

Tried that but no luck.Tried using the default image.It showed for a little while then disappeared.

You changing anything other than the image? code etc?

Tried it both ways.With SS and thru code.Sometimes leaving the original code and sometimes importing new graphics.Any change at all will make the glyphs disappear.Sometimes you cant even change the background color of the shellstyle.Sometimes nothing can be changed.If i change the window background color the glyphs always go away.I uploaded my first skin without glyphs because i thought they were unimportant but now i want to put them in and i cant.Thanks for your help Dark Mist.

Do You have a 'shellstyle.xps' file in the folder ? If Yes, is it filled with stuff ? Abd do You have the same entries in the uis-file ?

Well...got the default images to show.But if i change the graphics on one it disappears even tho it has the exact same name,dimensions and image attributes.(index at 8 bits)If i change the window background color they all go away.(talking about the large shellstyle pics at bottom right)If i delete the window background color attribute i get them all back after i reload the skin from display properties page.It wont work from the systray.I know this is possible because i loaded "tallyhawk" into SS and his background colors have been changed to a lite gray and his glyphs are twice the normal size.Is this a WB4 bug or a SS prob?

Even if i just change the brightness of the image it disappears.I'm stumped.

Problem solved!The top left pixel of your glyph image(shellstyle large whatever)must be exactly the same as your window background color.That was tough to figure out but it worked.

Now there's something that needs to be in a FAQ. I've always wondered why some worked and some wouldn't. It was just dumb luck!

It was very frustrating!Now they work perfect.(i cant look at a white background,too bright ,hurts my weeny eyes.Plus screen flicker is more noticable on white.)

When you edit them save as the same file type, Targa and Bmp and the same name they originally were. Thats all i did and they seem to appear fine.
