I think XP Professional has the most downloads of all time. I know that the most downloads for any skin belongs to Adni18, I'm just not sure if its XP Professional at the moment.

Mucho Kudos to all these great skinners, and much love from me. Thanks you guys and girls.

the only thing i want to add is that it is not so strange that xp professional has the most downloads if you look for the date it was made

Jincuteguy--

Adni has made many fantastic skins for WB--but if you're looking for his aston skins, he now has made his second one. Which is another beauty. Here's a link to his DA page. http://www.adni18.deviantart.com then click on gallery on this page. One is called "Glint" and the other is "Aquatic" Their both lovely. You'll find them in there. and I also saw his skins at the Aston site, click on skins and look for the above noted names.

Again I know little about Aston as I haven't even tried it but you asked about Aston thus I provided said links.

Aston doesn't compete with Object Desktop. You would use Object Desktop with Aston. Not instead. Aston competes with other shells such as Litestep, Talisman, and to a certain degree, Hoverdesk.

The closest thing to Talisman on Object Desktop would be ObjectBar and it's not a shell.

well ... yes. if you need your children´s help to use your video recorder (or vacuum cleaner) then you better keep your fingers away from the Step.

So I see this thread died about four years ago, but I'm wondering, as others have in this space, whether it's worth my time and system resources to run Aston Shell. Like others, I recently d/l'd the free version of the Shell from Giveawayoftheday.com, and I'm contemplating running it; the variety of negative comments posted when it was available make me somewhat hesitant. Does anyone have experience using recent versions of this software (1.95)? Does it play well with the latest versions of WindowBlinds and other OD components?

I have not run Astonshell but have run their new Aston2 Menu which is pretty cool and it works with Windowblinds. As the others said before, Astonshell is much different then Windowblinds in that it is a shell replacement and Windowblinds I think could be seen as more of a shell enhancement.

The best thing to do with any and all programs such as these is run the different programs for a bit and figure out what you like best. Everyone is different and you will eventually figure out which is best for you (be that performance and/or appearance, ect).
