Quickest way is to open it in Skinstudio then pick 'save as' from the file menu, and save it with a new name.

- rename the folder
- open the config file of your skin (.wba) and change it there
- open 'any' text file of the skin
- non of these works, make a new skin, ( with skin studio) and paste all the graphics in there, if you used the origninal names, they should replace the olds, and the skin should work, with the new name you did pick...

DM, I usually start my new skins with a generic name like skin1, skin2 (how original is that, hmm?) and when I'm done, save as 'the new final name'.
One added benefit is doing that only copies the needed stuff to the new folder (the one created when saving as). Then your zip/wba doesn't have a lot of 'extra' stuff in it.
You will have to go and add font files (if not system fonts) and wallpapers, etc. to the new folder if you want them included in your wba/zip, though.

I tried to change the skin name too, using "save as" but I get an error. "Cannot Create Directory" It creates a folder with the skin parts, but no uis/wb4 files. Anyone have any ideas?
Is it supposed to do this?

If you have saved him as a new skin name, then say: set this skin as current, then he probably will save the uis file again. Else you can also export/confert him.

OK, here is an easy and effective way to change a skin name.
1. Open up the skin in SS.
2. Click on the skin name in the left side explorer pane.
3. Click on the skin name on the right side under "section"
4. Click on the skin name under "Value" near the bottom of screen.
5. Delete the current name, type in new name, "enter".
6. Click on "File", "Save".
7.Done!

bordfryr123, File Save as fail is most probably caused by you using a character that is illegal in a file name, that would be:
< > | : \ / ? * "

Nope, didn't use anything like that. Unless it was a number. Like test1, test2, etc. Anyway, this method (#10) seems to work real well. I have changed the name of several skins (other ppls) and back again. No problems.
