So I need some help with Windowblinds

Thursday, May 29, 2003 by The DJ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

As you may of read in my other thread, I was having problems with Windowblinds skinning the entire display properties background and other backgrounds.

I had 'apply the skins color scheme' unchecked and the reason is because I have my desktop icon text black and when I would reboot with that checked it would turn back to white. Checking that, the windows are fully skinned and I've had it unchecked since the first version of Windows I've used.

Now with that checked, when I apply a new skin, the text changes white. It would always do that but I would go into the display properties and change me desktop color to white so the text would then again be black. The problem is now, the text changes black, then immediately changes white again. I cannot keep it black with 'apply the skins color theme' checked.

Can I delete something in the respected skins folder to prevent this or is there another way around it? Please help.

Have you tried changing the desktop color by where wallpapers are applied? That might work though I'm not sure.

It will work, but when I reboot, it changes back to white.

There has to be a way around this....

Try setting costom color in window blinds configuration window.
(Change skin colour)option. Change the color to the color you want for the text but don't check the box (enable custom color support).
This has worked for me but I don't know if it will for you.
Then reinstall a skin.

Nope, changes back to white on reboot.

Is there nothing I can delete in this skin's folder?

If you have checked 'apply the skins color theme' then when you reboot windowblinds will install the skins color theme which will probably override the color you want.
You could open the skin in skinstudio and change the color there.

To post # 5: Yes, I know, exactly. I don't have skinstudio installed and that would mean I would have to do it to all 200+ skins I have. I hope I don't have to resort back to Microangelo...

Are you running a beta version of WB4
Or the released version?

If you click on my name, you will see my desktop icon text is black. I've always had 'apply the skins color theme' unchecked because when I would reboot, the text would change back to white when it was checked.

Really wasn't missing out on anything until the new features of WB 4.

If you look at these screeshots (imagestation shrinks em down) of my desktop, the border on the display properties window is not skinned and on some skins the run background isn't skinned, along with other backgrounds:

To get these areas skinned, 'apply the skins color scheme' has to be checked. However, I lose my black text this way.

The goal here is to have these areas skinned while keeping my black icon text.

So you want black icon text and you want the skins backrounds skinned. If there is no override for the icon text then I think you will have to choose between icon text black and having the backrounds skinned. If not checking apply skins color scheme makes the backrounds not skin.

So as fare as I know if you want the skins backrounds to look like the preview but also want black icon text then I think we need another override added to windowblinds. But I could be wrong.

Or you could edit all your skins in skinstudio.
