OK, in WB4 when using a text background, how do you limit its size so it does'nt run into your titlebar buttons?

Another thing to consider is that (apparently), use of a text background can slow your skin down. I read this in one of the tutorials, and try to stay clear of them now.  I'm not sure how much effect it has though, but it's not as bad as using animation in a skin!! I am working on an animated skin at the moment, and whenever I start it up my system just stops in it's tracks!.  I think I will have to optimize all the graphics and hope that sorts it out.

I'm not sure, but the fewer frames, I beleve, the less it slows the system down.

Styl: The best thing to do is to look at an existing animated skin to see how it's achieved. Basically you just make your animated titlebar like any other animation,(multiple images) and then when you put it together in skinstudio, you specify the amount of images in the titlebar and also in the left, right and bottom images.

One thing to remember....if you have 20 images in your titlebar animation, then the left, right, and bottom images must have the same amount of frames even if they are not animated.

I have only released one animated skin, it's called "Cogs", and it has a simple animation in the titlebar. If you download it and then look at the titlebar images using an image viewer,(I use ACDSee) you will see how it works.

DISCLAIMER: There are people who can describe the process a lot better than I can. (I'm just an artist, Dammit [tm] )

One thing tho, make sure the frames are squares, witht the width the same distance as the height. (I find 40x40 pixels big enough, but thats just me)

Event: Your post is a little misleading, why would you think that an animation in a titlebar has to be square? the size and shape of the titlebar is totally irrelevant, it's just a collection of images where each image is slightly changed from the previous one. Are you talking about something else?
