X Box vs PS2 vs GameCube vs PC

Monday, May 19, 2003 by kona0197 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I figured to start another "vs" thread because the last one was fun!

So...

1) What is your favorite system, no matter how old?
2) What is your favorite game?
3) What would you like to own as a dream game system?

HDTV will not be mainstream until the next generation of consoles at the earliest so I say big deal. How many people here can say they have an HDTV set here? How many people can say they are planning on getting one soon? HDTV sets are too expensive as of now.

That is all BS. Next time back up your claims with fact.

That is about as much as you would pay for a new PC. Not that expensive. And they have 27 inchers for 499.

It doesn't matter Tech Cat, it's still there. How bout all the other innovative features?

I'm not tryin to say Gamecube or any other system sucks, but set it straight on what the Xbox has done and given and how it raised the standards.

I have had a hard drive break on me before so I do not believe that any hard drive has a long life span.

I have seen 20 year old hard drives before.

After my backup drive went a little bit ago (my power supply took it out along with a cd-rw drive), I've been using an 11 year old 7 gig drive.

A 32 inch TV for $799.99 is considered cheap? Hell you can get an analog rear projection set with a larger screen for the same amount.

why would i want a screen i can not play video games on? read the warnings on your viseo game system... not recommended for projection tvs!!!!!!!!!

Actually I have seen N64 played on rear projection. It works. They warn you against it due to the potential of damaging your TV. Video games tend to have more non-moving images that can get burned into your screen over time. Displaying any kind of non-moving image on a rear projection set for extended periods of time can cause damage.

Is this the kona0197 vs. Tech Cat thread?...Oh goody

Looks like kona0197 and The DJ have you on the run Tech...mmmm...sucks being wrong huh

I have repaired at least a dozen computers in the last 6 months and they all had hard drives dated from 1995-1997...They are built to last

Tech Cat...Perhaps YOU failed the HD...It didn't fail on you

It was the hard drive that failed me. Moving parts have more potential to break than electronic chips. What gives Gamecube an extra advantage is that it has only TWO moving parts and they are the disc spinner and the disc reader.

That's not much of an advantage seeing how it will be obsolete technology within a couple years anyway

As a fan of vintage gaming, it is a big advantage. I have a growing collection of gaming systems and game paks that span my lifetime. I like to go back and play games I grew up with. I like to play both new and old games much like a person who enjoys both new and old movies.

At least with movies you can always get a new copy of your favorite classic on whatever the current format for video playback is. Not all the great classic games get rereleased on classic gaming collections released for the current consoles.

Nintendo has outlasted the console makers of the past. They have been in the console market since 1985 and are still doing reasonably well. I don't think Nintendo will go the way of Sega and Atari anytime soon.

already had NES, SNES, N64

Now we have a GameCube

my favorite systems so far are SNES and GameCube

My favorite games of all time are Final Fantasy and Zelda (mostly Wind Waker), I was really sad when I saw there was no Final Fantasy games anymore on Nintendo system, I bought Final Fantasy VIII on PC just because of this, but I am glad Final Fantasy is coming back on GameCube!

Hurray!!!!

SNES and GameCube are the two best systems in gaming history in my opinion.

Ditto.

I forget, but I heard Nintendo themselves said they are droppin out and not making a next gen. console. Then I think I heard they were.

Can anybody clear it up?
