Web Browsers: Your Favorites/ Least Favorites

Sunday, May 18, 2003 by cosmo-alpha | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

What are your favorite web browsers, or your least favorite, and why??

My least favorite is anything related to AOL. Too many bugs for my liking.

Most favorite is a toss up between Opera and MSN.

What are your reasons for selecting Mozilla, Hus? I got pretty aggravated with that one.

#1) Opera for Linux ( super fast and clean fonts though plugin istall for linux is a pain)
#2) Mozilla Firebird for Win/LInux (LInux version is uber fast but the fonts are crappy. Win version is fast and the fonts are smooth of course so it's #1 for Windows)
#3) Konqueror ( would be my fav but has some rendering and speed issues)
#4) IE for some things windows it's just necessary

I have been an IE purist since 4.0 years ago. My favorite WAS IE...until Mozilla 1.4 came out. Right now, my only complaint with Mozilla is it's a bear to skin. It has so many features over IE I just couldn't ignore it such as:

1) Customizable beyond belief

2) Natively skinnable (but skins are a pain)

3) Integrated popup blocking

4) Tabbed browsing

5) Selective script execution and restrictions
6) I can now use the same browser (and skin) in both Windows and Linux

Hot: Mozilla (been my prime browser it since 0.6), currently 1.4 or Firebird 0.6.

Not: Explorer. Can't stand it. It being the native thing and booting with the system is just one reason.

I've been using CrazyBrowser for awhile now. Tabs, blacklists, pop-up blocking, etc.

i think i've used them all at 1 time or another and this new mozilla firebird is the fastest i've seen. very clean too. it just pains me though that some sites will not work correctly unless you are using ie.

Mozilla is my favorite based on features, and actually I have had no problems at all with skinning version 1.4. Tabbed browsing, download manager, so many things that make IE look outdated.

However, Microsoft's IE is needed at times, unfortunately. And it seems slightly faster than Mozilla(at least on some pages). I use them both quite a lot.
